Makena looked a bit shocked when he answered her question. "Ummm...... " She began to say, but the teacher cut her off by slapping her desk with a ruler. "LISTEN!" The teacher barked, her face wrinkling up. Makena quickly corrected her posture, and started listening to what the teacher was saying. But she still had what the tall boy said in the back of her mind.

Makena stood and stretched as the lunch bell rang. She normally ate lunch with some of her friends, but they were all in different periods today. She sighed, and started to walk towards the door, trying to leave before Travis so they didn't collide.

Mav went silent his eyes had a hunted look in them when the teacher yelled,he muttered to himself his hands shaking but he hid it,he was glad after lunch they would eventually have swimming,the water blocked out his thoughts and calmed him so he forced his mind onto those thoughts almost forgetting his uncle but not entirely

Mav got up quickly grabbing his bags rushing out the class to the far quiet edge of the field where the lunch tables were set out, he sat alone under the shade of a tree not eating anything yet, just watching the people pour out the doors and clearing his mind, no one joined him but Mav was fine with that

Makena trudged through the doors, scouting out a table where at least one of her friends she sort-of knew were sitting at. "Makena! Sit over here!" A voice hollered from somewhere around the groups of kids. Her gaze shifted through-out the area as she searched for whoever had called her.

"Kenzie! OMG Hey!" Makena squealed as she caught sight of the person who hollered. Kenzie was her best friend from last year. The friend you always hang around, even if you don't wanna, it's just an instinct. Kenzie jumped up and down a few times as Makena ran over to her. "I haven't seen you in years!" Makena said, placing her tray down and hugging Kenzie. "More like last year, but still!" Kenzie added, smiling.

Mav had gone completely quite as his friend,a guy called Jhon walked over,broke into a run and tackled Maverick who retaliated by pinning him to the ground and mock-punching his arm "hey" he laughed pulling up Jhon who dusted himself off and nodded in a counter greeting as they caught up on the day they had spent away from eachother

Soon Mav and his friend were being idiots tossing around a ball darting between the tables,jumping over empty chairs and slamming eachother to the ground to get back the ball in question,it was the same rugby ball from that morning,their game had moved closer to the table where Makena sat and was threatening to crash into them as they had switched to full on bear-style wrestling

Makena sighed as she chatted with Kenzie about everything under the sun, including her run-in with Travis. "Makena, don't worry about Travis! He's just a stuck up piece of crap, who likes throwing you around!" Kenzie barked, her eyebrows narrowing as she gazed at Maverick and Jhon, who were getting closer to them. "I'm gonna go drop off my tray, wanna come before those two hoolagins run into us?" Kenzie giggled, standing up with her tray.

Makena walked beside Kenzie towards the trash can, her gaze steady as she began to get anxious. What if Travis went after Kenzie when he saw them talking? What if....?

A second later Jhon and Mav crashed into a table making it collapse,they burst out laughing helping eachother up stumbling around drunk with addrenaline and dopamine,the chemicals released into your brains that were responsible for fear or in this case thrill and joy respectively,once the two were finally firmly on two feet each Jhon dragged Mav over to the girls to say sorry

"Hey...sorry we kinda almost crushed you" Jhon laughed...Mav had returned to his placid set-jawed state of existence and just gave a curt nod to agree "my idiot friend here" Jhon elbowed hi in the ribcage "thought it would be fun to mess around like...i believe the word was hooligans?" He smirked at Mav rolled his eyes

Makena smiled, her mind else where as she talked. "I believe that was the exact word-" She added, her eyes a bit dim. Kenzie started making small talk, noticing Makena's weird awkwardness. "So, I assume you guys also thought stumbling into our table was a good idea?" Kenzie barked, her eyes narrowed. She was semi joking, but she wanted to see their reactions. Makena shifted her gaze as she caught sight of Travis and his friends nearing where they were standing. Her first thought was to hide, so she slowly scooted behind Kenzie, trying her best to act normal. She was pearing past Kenzie's shoudler as Travis and his friends sat down at the nearest table, still chattering about whatever they chatter about. Makena relaxed and tried her best to act normal, still a bit behind Kenzie as she re-assumed her posture and smiled awkwardly.

Mav raised an eyebrow at their weird behaviour..one,Jhon was being friendly and joking to random people,he rarely opened up like that and Maverick was happy he was at least trying,two, whoever this girl was was sending mixed signals..angry but her face made it seem like a joke,he wasn't good with emotions so naturaly this confused the hell out of Mav, third of all Makena and her hiding but this was figured out when he followed her gaze to Travis

.

Jhon spoke first "yes it was a very good idea,because now,we get to talk to you cuties" he winked making it obvious that his words were just a joke and basically not to be taken at all seriously,Mav had a different approach "Makena? What's wrong?" He tilted his head seeing first her akwardness when usually she seemed outgoing and next the hiding from Travis

.

Maverick was thinking as he spoke is she uncomfortable with me? Or is it because of me AND jhon since we did kind of almost crush them with the table...and why is she still scared? Doesn't she know if he tries anything i would help..? he shook his head and just waited for a responss

Makena tried her best to stay calm, but her eyes were darting from Maverick to Jhon, then to Travis and his friends. She settled her eyes on Jhon as he made a comment. Makena chuckled and shook her head. Her laughter died as Maverick joined in and asked why she was hiding. She quickly came out from behind Kenzie, and leaned againt the table beside them, "I'm not hiding... I'm-" She paused and looked towards Kenzie for some help. "She's scared-" Kenzie began, getting a weird look from Makena, half nervous, half what-are-you-about-to-say, "Of her shadow." Kenzie finished, winking at Makena, but trying to keep a straight face. "Yes! Yup.. It's.. um.. A real concern in the medical world!" Makena added, jabbing Kenzie in the side with her elbow. Kenzie opened her mouth, but quickly shut it when she saw the anger in Makena's eyes. Makena knew she had to make herself look like a fool, and she needed, nor wanted, help from Kenzie.
