Mari winced as she watched the drink do its job. She grabbed a bucket for him, so that he didn't have to rush about. But soon enough, he was coughing his lungs up as promised. She kept a hand gently tapping on his back just under his shirt, a glass of water in her hand so that it was ready for him. It looked painful... like he was really struggling. And, well, she supposed he was. She would have struggled too, like this. She was just thankful it wasn't her. When he'd finally finished, though, she moved the bucket so that he could flop back on the bed. "Just breathe for a moment," she chuckled lightly to him.

Sage sort of just patted the girls leg after flopping back down into the mattress to let her know he was alright...he just didn't quite have the air to talk right about then. Coughing had tended to force more air out of his lungs than he could physically get back, so he'd sort of felt like he was suffocating for a bit there. Though, he trusted both the doctor and Mari, so it wasn't exactly some horrifying event. And while Maris hand hadn't done much to actually help him cough it all up, it was definitely a welcome thing to feel . The doctor patted his shoulder, looking rather cheerful. Really, the old man was just glad it had all worked out. "see, you're not dead," he chirped lightly and then handed him a few other pills. "Catch your breath then take those and see if you can eat something later on," he instructed before taking the surprisingly full bucket and wandering out of the room, closing the curtain behind him again.

Mari furrowed her brows at the doctor, but his comment would have likely amused her a bit more if it wasn't her husband, who she absolutely babied when he wasn't exactly well. She supposed it wasn't a bad thing... he'd grown up with no one it baby him like that, so she was more than happy to do it now. Not like she could help it, though. "Nope, not dead," she repeated to him lightly as she watched him gasp for breath, though was slowly steadying out. She watched the man pad out before looking back to Sage with a soft sigh as he slowly got his breath back.

Sage waved slightly at the doctor as the man left, and once he'd mostly gotten his breath back he glanced over at mari, exhausted again. "I think the worst part of that was the shot of last week's beef roast," he joked lightly. Well, the discription was a joke. But it wasn't necisarrily an exaggeration. Couldn't it have been a bit less...revolting? Whatever, it was all done now. But it had used up any and all energy he had left in him, so he could already feel his eyes fluttering shut again as sleep tried to take him. He sort of just rested his head againt mari's leg, since she was sitting on the bed, and let himself drift off. He knew Silas and her mother were stopping by...and he wanted to say hello, but the energy just wasn't there at that moment. He wasn't perfectly healthy, but at least he was on medication and he'd coughed everything that had accumulated up and out of his system. He'd be alright.

Mari wrinkled her nose at his comment after a moment, kind of wincing. "Gross," she mused lightly to him after a moment or two. It was kinda... gross, too, not at all attractive. Well, being sick isn't really an attractive thing. When he moved to rest his head on her leg, she leaned back towards the head board of the bed and rested a hand in his hair. She didn't know when her mother would be here... but she'd have to ask her to hold off while Sage was sleeping. He didn't need to be disturbed at all.

Sage sort of chuckled in sleepily drunkish sort of way before curling up closer to her as best he could with the IV tubes still in one arm. He still hadn't been able to eat or drink anything, so the doctor had put a new bag on there. It was the easiest thing for medicine and antibiotics and whatever else he put in there. But he hummed happily when she went to rest her hand in his hair...it always felt nice when she did that. It was definitely always comforting, to say the least. He didn't sleep for more than a few hours before stirring this time, since he wanted to say hi to his baby and mother in law when they got here. He was still a bit sleepy, but stretched and blinked his eyes open happily enough, considering the circumstances.

Mari hummed softly to the boy when he slowly started to wake... she sort of wished he'd stay that way. He looked so much younger when he was asleep. More relaxed, like he wasn't constantly worried about the world. Well, now that she thought about it, he didn't look so worried when he was awake... it was a nice realisation. That her husband might finally be relaxed with her. She gently stroked his hair as he stretched. "Morning handsome," she mused lightly, even thought it was about mid day by now.

Sage grinned up sleepily at the girl when he felt her hand run through her hair and then chuckled at her comment. "oh please, my bed head is probably horrible," he giggled lightly, though he'd visibly brightened up at her compliment, as he always did. He shifted into her slightly again with a soft huff of air before settling down again but peering around the room. He was definitely still sick, but just weary and a bit sore...not at all hurting badly or anything. He could breathe fine by then, which meant the medicine was doing its job and keeping his lungs from producing...whatever was in there before. He decided that was probaly a good thing. "How long was I out," he asked curiously after peering about for a moment or two.

Mari rolled her eyes at him with a soft laugh. "It is horrible, but you're still handsome so it's okay," she teased the boy lightly. She did think that he was still very handsome. But, then again, she was a bit biased. The girl smiled lightly to him after a little bit. "Not too long, a few hours. You probably needed it after all that," she mused lightly to the boy. It did look very... hard for him to do. Painful. Coughing that much up would have taken a hell of a lot of energy, too. "Silas and my mother will be here soon, so you might want to wake up though," she murmured softly.

Sage chuckled lightly, reaching up to pass a hand over his face in an effort to wake up a little bit. He hummed lightly at her next comment and shrugged. "Well I feel better after all that," he mused. She'd be glad to hear it, no doubt...he knew she'd been worried, and he didn't want her to stress at all, especially since she was pregnant. He felt a smile grow wider on his face when she mentioned that her mother was bringing Silas by and hummed happily. "good, I'm sure he's wondering what all is going on," he admitted with a slight chuckle. He was starting to get a bit hungry.. not enough for a meal, but enough for the crackers that the doctor had left on the side table. He sat up so he could reach over to nibble at a cracker before leaning back over onto Mari happily.
