Mari tried a little smile for him before taking the blanket back and waddled back to bed with a heavy sigh. She still got the feeling that he didn't want to be there... but he wasn't huffing and puffing about it anymore so that was good... right? At least if he was in bed he was resting. He may not be asleep but it gave him time to relax if he wanted it. Though, he didn't seem to want it at all. Her chest ached a little at the thought, but as soon as she felt his arms wrap around her she moved to bury her face into his collar, and held onto him just as tight. She didn't know what was going on with him... but all she wanted to do was help.

Sage hummed lightly when the girl wrapped herself up with him, moving to sort of run his fingers through her hair gently, sort of apologizing for not spending more time with her recently. He loved her....he did, and he hoped she still knew that. He was just....confused. hurting. Guilty. He wasn't even sure what he was feeling sometimes. After a while, he couldn't help but get fidgety and the thoughts started bombarding him again, now that he was still. He sort of shifted slightly, in hopes of hiding his increasingly rapid heartbeat from Mari....she obviously needed more sleep. Or at least rest. She didn't need him taking that away from her.

Mari sighed softly after a minute and eventually settled down. She still felt weird... she'd never had to ask him for attention. Not when he'd gotten like thi before. If anything, he wanted to be closer. But it didn't seem like that now, and she didn't really want to force it. Something in him was off... she'd definitely take him to the doctors soon. It just seemed to be getting worse. She did feel kind of pathetic for thinking she'd done anything. She couldn't have. She'd barely spoken to him the last few days. She eventually slipped off to sleep with a small breath, grateful to stop her mind from wondering.

Sage had wanted to stay there, but soon enough it just all got to be too much. He sighed and looked over at Mari, who was still curled up tightly against him despite being sound asleep. He sighed and pressed a light kiss to her head, felling pretty horrible about himself as he slipped away and out of bed quietly, wandering down to the kitchen. He may as well make breakfast for everyone...let her sleep, preoccupy his mind as much as possible, and maybe seem like he wasn't completely dying inside. The food was done soon enough, and he found himself just finding anything around the house to do in order to keep himself busy as possible.

Mari laid there for a little while... she was holding onto Sage so tightly, in hopes that if she held him tight enough then eventually he would just stay. He didn't, of course he didn't, but she still hoped so. She woke up quietly after a bit, her brows pinching together when she realised she was holding onto Sages pillow rather than the boy himself. She reasoned it to the fact that it was about seven int he morning now, and it wasn't normal for them to be asleep now. She sighed and crawled out of bed, staying in her pyjamas as she wondered down to the kids room to get them up and dressed. She let them mess around upstairs for a while before she wandered downstairs quietly. She sort of stood still half way down the stairs and gave a small sigh. "I'm... going to take the kids to their grandmothers for the next few days," she murmured softly. "And I'd like it if you went to stay with the doctor for a while. To talk to him? Something is going on, but whatever it is you don't want to tell me," she murmured quietly.

Sage hadnt noticed that Mari was up until Liz came waddling onto the kitchen. She'd have to had let her out of the crib, so she was...somewhere, obviously. He'd become pretty preoccupied with Silas and Liz by then, so he just figured them all out and then moved to grab Maris plate and go find her. He paused at the stairs once he heard her start talking, listening with a cocked head. "Alright," he mused in response to sending the kids off for a bit. Though, his brown knit together at her other comments, letting out a huff of air before moving up to stand on the stairs under hers, handing her the plate and shaking his head. "I'm alright, really," he whispered. Upon her insistence though, he reluctantly agreed to go to the doctor's. Maybe it would wind up being good for them. "Come with me," he eventually asked quietly, almost shyly. It had seemed like she was almost upset with him, and was sending him off on his own. Well, that certainly wouldn't help with anything. He'd just wind up freaking out and hurting someone. Probably himself. Besides....he needed her. He was struggling, a lot, and maybe the doctor could help get the information out. And keep her calm when it did.

Mari wandered down the stairs quietly and sat at the table. She just sort of nodded when he asked her to go with her. "You're not alright, though. Don't treat me like I'm stupid, Sage," she murmured softly to the boy as she sort of fidgeted where she was. When he asked again, she just sort of nodded. "I'll come with you," she murmured softly to him, eating quickly before going to pack a bag each for the kids. No doubt they'd noticed something off about their dad too. He wasn't doing an amazing job of hiding it. She furrowed her brows softly when she came back down. "I just think you need a bit of extra help for now, is all," she added quietly.

Sage hadn't meant to call her stupid, of course ...and he did feel pretty bad about making her think that. She obviously felt like that's what was going on. He sort of just sighed and dropped his head onto the table tiredly, mumbling some kind of apology. His shoulders relaxed quite a bit when she said she'd come with readily. Good, she still wanted to be with him. At least for now. If she figured out what had happened, that might change. And he was honestly terrified about it. He moved to just do the dishes while she packed the kids, wanting something to do. He had to stay busy. Once he was done in the kitchen, he moved to hook chaos up to the rig they used, and by the time he was finishing up, everyone was ready to go. Mari had packed a bag for them too, which he hadn't thought of, and soon enough the kids had been dropped off (and immediately spoiled by Edith), and he and Mari were getting settled in his old room in the ward.

Mari moved to hurry the kids into the cart before getting in herself. She greeted her mother quietly before unloading all the kids things. She helped Sage unpack everything too, and gave a small sigh once it was all finished, and went to sit in a chair int he corner of the room. Most of the traces that Sage had ever been here now were gone... no more mess or drawings. But she supposed all of that had been a long time ago now. The doctor seemed happy to see them too... well, as happy as you could be to see someone you loved in a doctors ward.

Sage had to admit it was nice to see the doctor, even if they were coming in because his brain was screwing him up. It had been a few months, after all, so it was nice to catch up. They spent a bit of time chatting before the doctor had left to check up on some of the other patients there before he came back to work on sage himself. He probably figured that it would take longer than a shot or two. Once he'd left, sage had sort of flipped over onto the pillow, and pretty much passed out right away...he supposed the effort it had taken to get here had pushed him over the edge, in that manner. The doctor came back soon enough, sort of asking Mari what had been wrong while he gave the boy a sort of check over. Surprisingly, he didn't wake...then again, the doctor had had years of experience.
