appearance; being of cuban descent, dante has medium brown skin and thick, dark hair that falls just past his shoulders, which he usually wears half up in a bun to keep out of his face. hes about five foot nine, with a more stocky build and dark brown eyes. based solely off appearance, dante absolutely looks like the kind of person who hasnt had a good nights sleep in years. he has dark circles under his eyes and scruffy facial hair that isnt quite a beard yet, but could get there pretty quickly. he wears thick, wire framed glasses and dresses in a semi-formal fashion, his outfits usually consisting of slacks and a button down shirt, sometimes a vest if hes feeling fancy.
personality; as a person, dante is complicated to say the least. an american history professor, his reputation as a teacher is for being tough on his students, borderline unforgiving. and he is hard on them, but only because dante sees their potential and refuses to accept anything less than their best effort. hes pretty rough around the edges- he doesnt sugar coat things and hes not opposed to picking a fight, verbal or physical. dante loves to give off the impression that he doesnt care about anything or anyone, but its all a facade- dante does care. he cares so, so much. to the point where, once his students get past how strict he can be, he acts as a surrogate father to a lot of them, especially those who dont already have a father figure to fall back on. he can come off as a nightmare, but hes more of a tough love person than anything.
backstory; dante is an only child. his mothers, maria and isabella, immigrated to the united states from cuba, and he was raised on a small farm in the desert. hes always had a good relationship with both of them. hes also always excelled in school, and knew from a young age that he wanted to be a teacher. nothing was going to stop him from achieving that, either- not even his middle school crush, a tall girl with bright blue eyes and messy blonde hair named allison dupree. it took a fourteen year old dante months to gather up the courage to so much as talk to allison, and at the age of twenty-four, he married her. what happened in those ten years is a long, long story but dante did achieve his goal of becoming a teacher in that time- he taught high school history classes until he finished his phd. by the time he got that, him and allison had also adopted a kid- a young teenager named newt who had formerly been one of dantes students. but thats an even longer story.
how he wound up in australia; dante was guest lecturing at the university of sydney when the whole superhuman apocalypse really took off, hes been stranded there since.

appearance; murgatroyd stands just a little over six feet tall, with warm brown skin and brown eyes to match. what really stands out about him is his hair- murgatroyds hair falls to the middle of his back in loose curls and has been bleached a dirty blonde from its original black, with multicolored highlights in various stages of fading out, clearly all dyed at different points in time and never very well kept up. he has thick eyebrows, scruffy facial hair, and is well built- not muscular to the point where its ridiculous, but to the point where you can tell the man spends most of his time working outdoors. his style of dress is somewhat vaguely lumberjack- like thats the aesthetic he wanted to go for but hes never really quite nailed it.
personality; although he tries to present himself as being carefree and easy going, murgatroyd is very easily stressed and tends to worry just a little too much. he really does try to be the free spirit he wants everyone else to believe he is, but honestly thats a lot harder in practice than it looks on paper. despite that, hes still a very friendly and outgoing person. murgatroyd is what you might call a people person, hell talk to anyone and ask a million questions about a strangers life, just because he can. hes a wanderer at heart, never able to tie himself down to one place, always looking for his next adventure. it would drive his parents up the wall if he still had contact with them. to murgatroyd, the finer things in life are old highways and cheap coffee from roadside diners.
backstory; murgatroyd was pushed into the spotlight from an early age. as a child, his parents enrolled him in a lot of classes for a lot of different things. the one thing he excelled in more than anything, though, was dancing. specifically ballroom dancing. he spent most of his formative years competing in the art, not by his own choice. it took over his life to the point that his parents took him out of school so he could focus on dancing and he never finished his education. he was a competitive ballroom dancer up until he was twenty-two, when he finally made a stand for himself and told his parents he would no longer be doing that. afterwards, he gathered up all the money he had to his name, bought a van, and has been travelling in it since. hed call it soul searching, or something along those lines.
how he wound up in australia; ever since he abandoned his career in ballroom dancing, murgatroyd has been travelling the world in an attempt to find himself. as of the apocalypse, he was staying on the anangu pitjantjatjara yankunytjatjara lands with the pitjantjatjara aboriginal tribe.
other; would love to tell you about veganism. a song for murgatroyd is down in the valley by the head and the heart, probably. i havent listened to that song in a long time and hes still a fairly new character but it feels right lol.

appearance; standing about five foot eleven, mych has a slender, feminine frame they accentuate through tight clothes and flashy accessories. being of primarily ghanaian descent, they have dark skin and tightly coiled hair, which they usually wear up in a poof at the top of their head. mychs style could be considered borderline gothic if it werent so simple and understated- a solid black, knee length velvet dress is their usual go-to for business purposes. theyre fond of gold jewelry and the way it brings out their dark eyes.
personality; if you had to describe mych in a single word, eccentric would be an understatement. anyone who has met them could tell you that mych is an unstoppable force- theyre going to do whatever they want to do and there is no stopping them. because they had to grow up so fast, mych is basically living out all their childhood dreams as an adult. pre-apocalypse, they were well known for being an avid collector of terrible abstract art, as well as for having a pet alligator named stephanie and a personal assistant whose entire job was to follow mych around carrying stephanie all day. theyre very high energy and easily excited. having grown up very, very wealthy, mych is somewhat disconnected from the struggles everyday people face. despite that, theyre still a very sweet and friendly person- and a lot less ditzy than theyd like everyone else to believe.
backstory; mych was raised by their grandparents- not for any overly tragic reason, their own parents were still alive and well, they were just largely absent from mychs childhood. their grandfather was the founder and ceo of lakeview technologies llc, a massive tech corporation that mych knew very early on they would be taking over when their grandfather passed away. they spent their entire childhood and teenage years training for the job, and when their grandfather did pass away, they inherited his role in the company. despite their age and their antics, the company has thrived under mychs leadership- much to the annoyance of the board of directors. the way mych would put it, theyre not doing anything wrong, everyone is just mad theyre having fun.
