Riverbreeze Characters: Northlake Herd
Name: Talos Gender: Stallion Age: 6 Rank: Herd Member Appearance: 17hh Personality: Talos can be reckless, loves a challenge and enjoys living in the now rather then the future. He may appear immature but can be quite thoughtful at times of others. But that doesn't stop him from riushing into situations from time to time, nor stiring up trouble. Background: Talos has grown with the Northlake herd his entire life, his mother a low herd member and father, once the lead stallion before passing. He doesn't hate mares nor understands the war, but continues it like a tradition. Name: Pyre Gender: Stallion Age: 8 Rank: Herd Member Appearance: 16.2hh Personality: A joyous stallion, very light-hearted and down to earth. He likes conversation and being the centre of attention. He is loyal and dedicated to the cause, and despite Talos being a bit of a wild card, Pyre is more even tempered Background: Was born with a lone mare, and grew up without a herd other then his mother. When she passed, and he was truely alone he got caught up with the North and South herd wars, joining that of the stallions and fighting for his sides territory. ----
Southlake Herd
Name: Nola Gender: Mare Age: 13 Rank: Lead Mare Appearance: 18.2hh Personality: Quite and steady, she leads her herd with strength, intelligence and a quick mind. She is fast on her hooves, as well as in her decisions. And she doesn't like to leave things to the last minute. She often starts the fight and wants to finish it. Background: Nola was in fact once part of the Northlake Herd, no more then a low rank mare, and treated as such. She spent 4 years with them, until a sudden and quick battle gave way for an escape. And with it she ran, finding herself with the Southlake mares herd. She gained friendship, grew strong and became a warrior like no other, even becoming trustworthy with the leader at the time. At ten tears old, the previous leader passed and Nola was chosen to be the next and has done so for the last few years. Name: Denali Gender: Mare Age: 3 Rank: Herd Member Appearance: 15.1hh Personality: A gentle and bit naive young mare, she has a misleading idea of what the stallions are like, and has grown up thinking them monsters from the underworld. She is quick to judge, a bit of a coward but friendly to her those she knows. Background: Denali is quite young and has only ever known the Southlake mares, not even experience a confrontation with the stallions. She is excited to finally prove her worth and become one with the herd as an adult. Edited at October 30, 2021 02:07 AM by Riverbreeze Stables

--
It was late morning in Northlake, the sun rising high in the cloudless blue sky. Two stallions walk through a thicket of trees, they neared a clearing that opens up to a large lake, its clear waters glitter under the bright sun. If anything, it appeared the day was peaceful, small animals energic as they rustled about in the trees, or scurried along the ground.
Talos, a lean bay stallion led the way to the body of water, his golden friend behind him cheerfully chattering away, his topics bouncing from one thing to another at rapid speed. Too much for Talos to focus on.
"And I told Kahlo again, 'We must check the west side twice even thrice in case of the enemy sighting, -which I saw the other day- but did the youngster listen? Nooo..." Talos flicked an ear in his friend's direction, his face against the water as he sipped the cool liquid down, Pyre was known to exaggerate. Much to everyone else's disdain, but he was still well-liked. "Actually, why do I even try. He can take care of himself, I must seem obsolete in these young stud eyes. Now too old to know better."
"My friend, you are only 8 years old. Far from being an elder." Talos shot back to Pyre, who simply snorted in return, as though ignoring the fact.
After the bay stallion finished his drink, the two were off, heading west of the lake to check the perimeter as they were tasked to do by their leader. Although it had been quiet the past few months, another war could startup just as quickly with the Southlake Herd of mares.
---
Nola huffed as she listened to an elder mare drone on about the ongoings of the herd. As though the black mare didn't know herself, but Nola knew she should not be disrespectful.
It wasn't even twenty minutes until Nola realised she hadn't assigned the patrol duties just yet, distracted with Eline, the grey old mare always one to draw out a conversation. The back mare politely excused herself and trekked her way to the herd. Her dark eyes scanned the members for someone who was free. She caught sight of a small group of mares. "Sorry to disturb you all but I need someone to take on the patrol to the lake today, who is willing to go?" Edited at November 2, 2021 04:48 AM by Riverbreeze Stables
