Pirates of the Deep Blue Sea (because I have no imagination)
I don't think it needs to be said again... (but apparently it does: please don't post unless your name is Caal or Zazzy(me) :) Feel free to read along though! Or PM if you have Qs.)
Enjoy :)

Discussed Plot Ideas:
Character A was kidnapped by a fearsome pirate lord, and eventually kills said pirate and takes over his name. Eventually, they meet Character B, a stowaway on the ship they now lead. As they travel to find B's family, both characters slowly fall for the other.
For Character A:
Maybe he was given up by his parents or left by the docks in hopes some traveler would find him only to be taken in by a pirate captain. After he got a bit older, something happens (Don't know what yet) and Character A kills him and takes over, keeping the legendary blade and name that many feared as his way of keeping authority.
(Possibilities discussed regarding their captaincy take-over)
A deadly dispute leading to the captains death, or the captain was infected with something, or maybe it was an accident but that captain told him to take advantage of it or something, not let anyone know what actually happened so that he would be feared/obeyed.
For Character B:
Character B is a stowaway because she was looking for a crew to join but was denied due to her female-ness. So she took matters into her own hands, intending to prove her doggedness to the crew somewhere down the line. Years ago, her parents left to go on a quest to save her little sister, but they never returned and the sister died. Maybe she found an old journal of her mothers giving her a strong lead to what cure they were looking for. She believes her parents are still alive(but maybe when they find the thing they learn that they never made it that far). Also, for work, she worked as a cook/chef in a tavern, so when she's discovered at sea they keep her on to cook and are pleasantly surprised by her skill. The ship's cook, a grumpy, elderly man, turns into her sort of begrudging mentor.
Down the line, they find out that character B has siren blood. Few siren offspring live, so the species is small. Also, few humans have siren blood, but there is a gene mutation that lots of children with siren blood have that doesn't allow them to live very long. Her sister had the gene, which is why she was so sick and died, and Character B did not. Sirens are known for their allure, so when they find out, she starts to doubt character A's intentions towards her and the kindness of other people(a possible plot point for character development). But because she was denied a spot on a crew- Maybe humans with siren blood don't have the same alluring effect. Or there are specific things they have to do(like specific songs or whatever) that turns this effect on. The siren blood is why she is drawn to the sea.
her grandmother was the princess next in line but ran away with her human lover, never to be found at sea again. So, she is secretly royal, but because of a shortage of royal babies in the generations after, a cousin took the throne after her great uncle died, and therefore, character B is the unknowing heir to the siren throne. Maybe there is a battle with another ship or monster and she lands in the sea, alerting the siren crown to her existence. Because she is the rightful heir, she can claim the crown at any moment and take its rights, so the current ruler who is a distant cousin gives orders to hunt her down. Dun dun dun....

Character A
Name: Ciarian Ward (AKA Captain Ward)
Age/Species: 22/Human
Appearance: He is relatively well built with muscle from his years working on the ship, however, he holds a cat-like grace and litheness in his long limbs. He has dark tanned skin, vibrant green eyes, and a grin to melt anyone's heart. His hair, a deep black, is long and reaches roughly his lower back. His go-to hairstyle is a simple braid, effective and stylish. However, his looks aren't all perfect. Across his left eye is a large scar that starts above his eyebrow, skips his eye (By pure luck), and then continues down to his cheek. Ciaran prides himself on having a roughish look.
Personality: Having grown up under harsh authority from the previous captain, he is determined and blunt. He seems cold and calculating to many he encounters, ever the fearsome captain many have heard of, however, he is rather loud and expressive with those he is close to.

Whoever had told her that meeting new people was fun, had lied. Meeting new people was not in the least bit fun, at least it wasn't tonight. She'd had five meetings with crews that were getting ready to leave in the next week. Every single one of them had laughed at her when she'd asked to join them. She'd sat before the first crew, red faced and glaring at the lot of them, and had taken it, only to storm out of the tavern in a rage. She'd angrily kicked barrel and had bruised her toe in the process. Pirates, no, sailors were so infuriating.
Sadie had tried all sorts of things. After the first attempt, she'd found some boy's clothes and had pinned her hair up to try make her look more masculine. It, however, hadn't worked. She was too obviously female, with her large eyes, fine features, and a chest that, no matter how hard she tried, would not bind flat. Sadie had cursed her femininity, then. As soon as she'd said it, she'd taken it all back, but the anger had made her do it. She'd tried bribery since sailors were a greedy bunch, but she didn't have enough money and had been laughed at. She'd tried beating them at a knife-throwing game, but after two perfect shots, a drunk had stumbled into her path and had received a blade in the shoulder. And then, Sadie had been laughed at. She'd tried offering up her cooking services, but everyone already had a cook that they were loyal to, and after trying to prove that she was better, she had been laughed at. The only other option that Sadie could think of, but hadn't yet tried, was offering her body, and she sure as hell would never do that.
Now, Sadie sat, dejected, on the back steps of the small inn she cooked for, gazing up at the moon. It was the only thing left that made her feel at peace, and tonight it was bright and full. Yes, she loved to cook, but as the inn became more popular, her job started to stress her out. Sadie sighed, her fingers playing with the twin medallions around her neck. Silver with a chlorastrolite stone in the middle. One belonged to her, the other had belonged to her little sister who was now dead.
The back door banged open, startling Sadie and revealing her boss. "Last few patrons, you can leave," she said, jerking her chin in Sadie's direction. Sadie nodded, taking the coins the women held out for her, and stood from her perch on the rough stone steps. As she walked, she dropped the small handful of coins into her coin purse, and shoved the purse into her jacket pocket.
The noise from the taverns grew louder as Sadie made her way down the streets. She passed one, then two, intent on getting home so she could go to bed and come up with a new plan of action in the morning. At the end of the main street, in front of the last tavern left on this side of town, she stopped. The Naked Bard was a place where only the scabbiest of sea bass spent their money. She knew for a fact that there was no naked bard that performed there, because, there was no bard at all. But the name captured the vibes of the place perfectly, which was the reason why she'd never gone inside. The image her mind conjured was obscene enough to prevent her from stepping a foot inside. And yet, here she was, staring up at the sign like the damn fool she was beginning to feel like.

The docks were extraordinarily busy, which was what had taken the man by surprise at first. The ship had docked at whatever port was nearest, and it just so happened to be the shadiest of places one could find. Ciaran studies the crop of goods before him, ring-laden fingers reaching out to test the quality of various vegetables and other such necessities. Chef, as affectionately dubbed by the crew, had thrown a tantrum and refused to cook for some while unless he got better ingredients. So, after a few days of stale crackers, Ciaran had made the decision to stop for a while. His men had long runoff, holed up in various taverns in search of women and booze as usual.

A chirping laugh behind him catches his attention and the youngest of the crew hurries to shut up once he spots his captain. He had brought the lad along to help carry things and keep inventory, but the newcomer wasn’t at all interested in his task. Ciaran sighs, waving a hand in dismissal as he gives in. The man barely caught the book tossed at him as the boy scurries off, disappearing into the crowd like the rest. Now alone, the captain purchases what he has and sends it off back to the ship for the cook’s approval. As usual, he ends up meandering the cobblestone streets, the sound of merchants calling out wares and the sound of hooves on stone drowning out his thoughts. When the noise of the city got too much, he slips into the nearest tavern. The Naked Bard. Humble, cozy, and rather pleasant. The patrons within start shouting, snapping the man from his peaceful quiet as his crew roars at him with cheers of greeting. He gestures for them to quiet down, offering a large grin as he slips past someone leaving. He stands before their table, arms crossed, as he shouts above their laughter, “The Ataraxia yearns for the sea, gentleman. We can’t stay long.”

(I love the name of the ship *insert heart eyes emoji here lol*)
As Sadie stared a the tavern's sign, painted in sloppy red letters above the door, she found herself holding the twin pendants hanging around her neck. She shifted her gaze to stare into the doorway. The door stood ajar, letting the light from inside and the boisterous noises escape into the street. Sadie took a hesitant step towards the entrance and then stopped. What the hell she was doing here, she had no idea. It was more of a compelling feeling- like fate or destiny- that led her to stop outside this place. She looked down at her attire; A white blouse tucked into blue skirts and a brown swiss waist that laced up in front. It wasn't exactly the best outfit for trying to blend in at The Naked Bard But she was a girl that didn't like to conform to society, and so, everyday, she wore a pair of thick black leggings under her skirts. "For extra layers", she's told her boss that one time there was an accident in the kitchen and her skirt had torn and a flash of her legging-clad legs had been caught by the woman. Now, more grateful for her abnormal tendencies than ever, Sadie undid her skirts, leaving the leather around her waist in place. She dropped the material on a barrel in a nearby alley and steeled herself.
The full force of the tavern's atmosphere hit her as she opened the door. Her pale eyes flicked around as she stepped inside, and suddenly, she felt as if her skin glowed. It was not a good feeling, especially in a bar so filled to the brim with rugged men. She caught the eyes of the barmaid who sneered at her, and gulped.
Now, she wondered, does fate have a plan, or is she just going to leave me hanging...

The dramatic sighs and groans from his men cause him to offer a lopsided grin. A few return his gesture, breaking into boisterous cheering as he takes a seat among them. He was content to sit, listening to their conversations as he looks over the room. Tables lay strewn about, a bar stood at the front near some precarious-looking stairs, and a large fireplace occupied the back wall. A few more patrons than just his crew also sat among them, a few closer to the door grumbling about whoever just walked in. Ciaran leans the chair back enough to catch a view of the newcomer, arms crossed and eyes cold as he studies her. She was out of place, nervous, and seemed scared beyond belief. One thing was clear: She didn’t belong here. The other patrons ignored her as best they could, others eyeing her in a rather unsavory way as the woman made her way through the room. The barmaid also seemed upset at the woman’s arrival. Was this a normal occurrence or were they truly that unpleasant here? The man watches the figure disappear at the bar, shrugging it off as he turns his attention back to his crew.

At some point, they had managed to get even drunker, and now the group had begun their slurred singing. The captain was glad to see they were all living well, spirits unbroken even after their years on the sea. He laughs, swatting their hands away as they try to get him to join. One in particular, a brute of a man named Alric, booms out his discontent, “Come now, Captain! Have some fun and quit bein’ so sad.”

Ciaran shoots him a pointed look, knowing it best for them to keep as low a profile as possible. He flicks his head towards the drunk, watching as the rest of the crew tries to get him settled. The man continues on, face red and words slurred, “Fearsome Captain Ward, no? King of the Seas! Oh, get your hands off of me.”

The captain frowns, the laughter quieting as he stands and fixes his sleeves, “We return to The Ataraxia at once, is that clear?” He gives them all a pointed look before stalking out of the tavern, tossing more than enough payment for the issues the evening brought onto the bar as he goes. Ignoring the murmurs of fear and disapproval that followed him, he slips through the streets and back to the docks, the crew following behind him.

Sadie metally rammed some steel up her spine and walked forward, hardening herself with some false confidence. Fake it till you make it, her mother had once told her, and so she did. She spotted a small table in the corner by a back window and changed her course, heading straight for it. Anxiety and self-consciousness coiled in her chest, but she ignored it. Suddenly, the word 'Captain' jumped out at her from conversation. Sadie's head swiveled around, but she couldn't distinguish one group of lads from another. It would be better, she knew, to find a good seat to watch the crowd.
When she got to the small table in the corner, Sadie immediately slumped down into the seat. The window another her was cracked open, so she could faintly hear the soft wind and distant sounds coming from outside. She eyed the crowd of men, scrutinising every detail until she heard it again.
"Fearsome Captain Ward..." It came from a group of men directly in her line of sight, although they'd have to look quite hard to see her. But just as the burly man continued, another group of men cheered and she missed the rest of his words. Crossing her arms over her chest, Sadie grumbled low curses to herself, casting her glare around the place.
The man in the middle of the group she watched looked to be about her age, but he was weathered, and so she couldn't really tell. He had long black hair, and a long scar that, in Sadie's opinion, made him look sort of devilish. She couldn't see much more, since the lighting in the tavern wasn't great, but she could tell that he was handsome. Her cheeks immediately heated at the thought. Bloody picaroon, she thought, sinking lower in her chair and scowling harder.
As soon as the Captain stood, an idea sprung to the forefront of Sadie's thoughts and she sat bolt upright. She'd have to be quiet, and sneaky, but if she made it onto the ship... Then at least the first step of her mission would be sorted. That was, unless they found her and dropped her off at another port, or threw her overboard, or worse. Sadie shuddered at the thought, but knew she'd have to try. For her parents.
So, she left The Naked Bard soon after the crew did, following the stragglers out the door. On her way, she swiped a couple of extra coins from the table(the barmaid was otherwise occupied), just in case. Outside, she gathered her skirt from the alley and draped it over her shoulders. Her soft boots were quiet on the cobblestones as she snuck behind the group of men and she was grateful.

The Ataraxia was a large ship, made of dark wood with heavy, tattered sails. Chips in the paint flecked the surface, and the occasional scar from battles long ago marred the surface. It was a ship of memories. A few souls left on board worked to get things ready and seemed to meander about, shouting commands to one another as they worked. For such a legendary ship, it was strangely cozy. Underneath the wear and tear of the years, there was a sense of family. Everybody joked around, laughed, and sang.

It silenced as the captain strode aboard. It wasn't necessarily him, but the fact that he was followed closely by the brutish man being half dragged and half carried on board. Ciaran stops, back to the man currently being carried down to the living quarters of the crew, and he clears his throat, "No need to worry over him. He'll be fine. Back to work, please."

The captain's green eyes sweep over the ship, taking in the details as the crew slowly returns to their work. It doesn't take long for them to forget about the drunken man below, and their joyous singing and laughing pick up once more. At one point Ciaran felt a chill up his spine, and he turns quickly to see the lumbering figure of Chef at his shoulder. The man carried samples of the vegetables from earlier, and he seemed to be studying them. He nods to the captain after a few rather awkward seconds and strides away, slipping below deck and back to the recesses of his kitchen. Ciaran just watched the encounter, brows creased in confusion. He was relatively mute, or at least couldn't say much, and a little strange, but gods could the man cook. Once he was sure things were going to plan, he made his way towards his office, barking commands to set sail as he went. They were off to their true calling: The deep, crystalline sea. Ciaran takes a minute to feel the slow movement of the ship, eyes bright and full of interest at what would await them.
