Other:

[WRS' Character]

Name: Cassian Everhart

Known As: A mercenary of the Blackbird guild

Alias: Crow

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Basic Appearance:

Cassian is a taller person, and stands at 6'3. This height is often used as an intimidation tactic on others who are considerably shorter. His build is more on the narrower side, but he has a very well built muscle tone due to his training and profession. Overall, Cassian has a well proportioned form, giving him a well balanced mix of speed and strength.

Cassian's complexion is on the paler side and is more neutral in tone. His hair is a glossy black color, although in bright sunlight it may look duller. It's an average length, just long enough to get messy. Most of it is straight and thick in texture. Normally, he leaves it the way it is and slicks it back whenever it gets too messy. His eyes are a steel grey and almost always have a sharp piercing glint to them. He has less than average vision, so he wears a pair of round eyeglasses whenever he is not on a job. Otherwise, he wears specialized sunglasses to help him with his job.

When not at work, Cassian wears typical clothes, such as a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. When he is at work, he wears a black, insulated stealth uniform with a pin of his guild's symbol on the upper right chest area. If the temperature is particularly cold, he wears a black trench coat on top of that. As for footwear, he wears a pair of flexible black tactical boots with excellent traction. The weapons he normally carries with him are a long black rifle for shooting at long range, and a handgun for short range and confrontations. He also has a secret weapon: a retractable sword with a black hilt and steel blade. It is, personally, his favorite weapon, but he doesn't use it often for practical reasons.

Personality:

Sarcastic | Cunning | Protective | Manipulative | Guarded | Collected

Likes: Training, rainy days, tea, winning, etc.

Dislikes: Feeling trapped, being outsmarted, burnt food, piercing loud sounds, etc.

Strengths: Speed, physical strength, intelligence, accuracy, etc.

Weaknesses: Eyesight, injured leg, feeling helpless, losing a loved one, etc.

Other: Xena is his sister.

<><><>

[Airtafae's Character]

Name: Xena Everhart

Known As: A member of the special forces of the International Intelligence and Security Association.

Code Name: Nighthawk

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Basic Appearance:

Xena has an average height, standing at 5'5. Although there are many who are taller than her, she doesn't let her smaller height give her an advantage. With her smaller height and slender build, she can fit in places easily, and uses her smaller figure to escape the grasps of her taller, larger opponents. However, due to her smaller and slender build, she does not have as much of a muscle tone. Although she can most certainly hold her own in a fight, she lacks somewhat in physical strength.

Xena's skin is paler, with a mixture of warm and neutral tones. Her hair is a lovely deep brown, resembling the color of dark chocolate. When left down, it reaches her shoulderblades. It is of an average volume, and it is straight with very little to no waves. Normally, she puts it in a loose fishtail braid, but when she is on the job, she puts it up in a somewhat messy high bun. Her eyes are a beautiful deep green color, and often have that same shining glint in them as her brother. Unlike her brother, however, she has no vision problems and does not require glasses. She does wear sunglasses sometimes when she is at work or relaxing outside. Normally, she keeps them off and only tends to use them when her identity needs to be hidden.

Any time Xena is not chasing down criminals or suspects, she typically wears some sort of comfortable light colored turtleneck or t-shirt, depending on the weather. Usually showers light blue jeans with them, along with a pair of white tennis shoes. When she is in uniform, she wears a black tactical uniform with a bulletproof vest, including a pair of black military grade boots. She has a utility belt with a number of items such as pepper spray, a taser, GPS, tracking device, etc. Her go to weapon is a dark long range rifle with a scope and a strap to go over her shoulder.

Personality:

Steadfast | Diligent | Loyal | Courageous | Cautious | Wistful

Likes: Coffee, getting things done, autumn, having someone there for her, etc.

Dislikes: Her brother (not really), obnoxiousness, being taken advantage of, losing, etc.

Strengths: Accuracy, speed, intelligence, determination, etc.

Weaknesses: Inability to swim, physical strength, fear of failure, fear of deep water, hesitation, etc.

Other: Cassian is her brother.

Cassian Everhart [Crow]

The alleyways were dark and foreboding, the apartments casting deep shadows across the roads. It seemed like the entire place was eerily empty. There seemed to be a heavy silence on the area, as if it had been abandoned or contained a dark secret. Even the pigeons and rats could not be seen. There looked to be nobody there. Nobody, that is, except a shadowy figure in the most empty and foreboding alleyway. He seemed to blend in with the wall behind him, almost hiding from the lights of the city. And he was waiting for someone. He was nervous, for he looked around fearfully at any small sound he heard. He stood there for a few minutes until he looked up and saw another figure positioned on one of the fire escapes right in front of him. Staggering back, the man fumbled for his weapon as the figure leapt down, landing steadily and easily. "D...don't come any closer!" The man shouted and stumbled into the streetlight, still fumbling for his weapon.

"If you shoot, it will be the last thing you do. Besides, we're here for business, aren't we?" A voice replied, cold and collected. The figure stepped into the light, and his appearance could be clearly seen. "Ah, you're the mercenary from the Blackbird guild, right?" The still frightened man replied, looking at the other's silver lapel pin of a bird in flight. "That I am. Crow at your service. What service that will be is what we have come to discuss. You must be the informer from the infamous gang that runs this city. Now, what are my orders and pay?"

"Y-yes sir. The job is to eliminate this particular group. It might be a more difficult job, so we are willing to pay a pretty hefty sum when the job is completed." The informer spoke, handing a file to the mercenary. Crow looked through it quickly, taking in the names and faces of his targets. As he went down the list, he caught sight of something familiar. His eyes opened wide in shock and he stood stock still, not saying a word. He didn't know what to think. He never expected anything like this to happen, and he had no idea what to do. With an effort, he hid his surprise and turned back to the informer, looking completely calm. Unfortunately, the informer caught his expression of shock, for he smiled and asked, "Anyone you've seen before? Don't worry, they won't be a problem for you." Crow could not return the smile, and simply nodded before answering. "I'll get on it. The job may take some time, and I want no interference. No interference. Do you understand?" His gaze was cold and piercing as he looked back at the informer. The other shuddered under his cold gaze, and replied shakily, "Of...of course. Whatever you need to get the job done. I'll let the higher ups know. You won't have any trouble sir. Just take them down quickly, and the group won't give you any problems."

"Yes." He paused, "I'm sure they won't. Well, I suppose I'll get to work then. I'll contact you for my pay when the job is finished. Until then, do not attempt contact. If you interfere in my business, I have every right to interfere in yours. Do I make myself clear?" "Completely, sir!" The informer quivered before rushing off through the alleyways. Staring coldly at the disappearing figure, Crow sighed. Now that he knew who was his target, he wasn't sure how to do it. I can't do it...she's in there. Walking solemnly, he turned away from the dark alleys and walked along the abandoned sidewalks. Everyone in the area knew better than to walk outside after dark, especially when they were in the worst part of the city. The silence gave Crow some time to process what he had to do. Lost in thought, he kept running the picture through his mind. Why was she in there? I can't do this, not to her.

Walking along the streets, Crow looked carefully at the surroundings, but in his mind he was trying to find a way out of the problem he had. He couldn't warn her, but he couldn't leave the whole thing alone. If he didn't do this job, someone else would, and she would be dead. How can I do this? Crow asked silently as he walked in the light of the streetlights. He was so deep in thought that he gradually lost conciousness of his surroundings, only focusing on the looming problem he had to deal with. Suddenly, he could hear the sound of a firearm cocking. He immediately went into fight-or-flight mode and rushed for the closest cover he could find, a metal garbage can a couple yards in front of him. He raced toward it, but he heard the thundering sound of a shot and fell. Pain was shooting up his right leg, and he felt almost overwhelmed by the agony. However, he knew better and made no sound. As the shot had come from the top of an apartment across the street, he now knew the position of his attacker. The problem was, he was completely exposed. The was no chance of shelter he could reach. Knowing that the only thing he could do was fight back, he grabbed his own weapon.

Bitting his lip to keep from blacking out, he quickly cooked his own rifle and fired in the direction the shot came from. It was a miss. Cursing his aim, he was getting ready for another, but noticed someone running up on his left side. Not ready for surrender, he tried to turn his body to face the approaching figure so he could fire, but another shot rang out. Another pang of agony pierced through him, again through his right leg. The pain made him want to shout, and it took all his strength not to coil up in anguish. Dropping his rifle, he decided to make one final stand. Struggling up on his feet, he faced the approaching attacker with a fighting spirit. As the other rushed at him, he used his momentum to strike the side of their head. The figure stumbled back, but because of the amount of momentum Crow used, he fell over them. Landing hard on the concrete, he felt the wind get knocked out of him. Panicking and trying to get his breath back, he watched as his opponent got back on their feet and stood over him. He could not speak; he could not even breath yet. He just struggled as his opponent delivered the final blow. A piercing pain through his head was all he remembered before he lost conciousness, falling back on the hard ground of the street.

You're good, WRS!

Xena Everhart (Nighthawk)

It was before dawn when Xena's alarm went off. Yawning, she turned and shut off the alarm clock and got up. Looking around her room, she wondered what she was going to do today. Well, she wasn't group leader, so she certainly wasn't going to call the shots. Knowing Hartley, I'll probably be looking through files of suspects and criminals. He never lets me out into the field. She huffed, already imagining how her day was going to go. Ah, well. If they need me to do something, I'll get it done. I'm sure I'll get called up for something eventually. Getting ready, she put on a cream colored turtleneck and a pair of light grey blue jeans, walked into the kitchen, and made coffee. As she waited for her coffee, she brushed her long, chocolate brown hair and placed it in the same messy bun she had always worn to work. By the time she was finished, her coffee was ready. Pouring it in a thermos, she got her purse and walked out of the door. After making sure her apartment was locked and secure, Xena strolled through the sidewalks.

It was a clear early, early morning, and she could barely see the moon sinking behind two tall buildings. It was beautiful at this time, with the sunrise one or two hours away. It was early, sure, but Xena still loved it. There was the silence of a sleeping city, with the occasional exception of very early wakers and very late sleepers. Sipping her coffee, Xena traveled across the block, finally stopping at an unmarked building. The building, to any ordinary passerby, would have seemed like a run down, plain and simple place of business, but she knew better. The plain old building held some of the most skilled specialists she had ever known.

Stepping up to the door, Xena looked down at the door handle. It was strangely oval shaped in the center, and it was locked. She knew what she had to do. Placing the thumb of her right hand on the oval shaped part, she waited until she heard a click. Xena smiled as she opened the door. I never get tired of this. She thought to herself when she entered through it. Inside, the atmosphere changed drastically. There were a handful of desks in two rows, and a multitude of files on each one. The rooms were bright and had a comfortable, yet organized and structured feel to them. Almost everyone was there already, with a couple of exceptions. Xena took another sip of coffee before she went up to join them. Bill Stanford, the weapons expert was there, along with Charlie O'Conner, the demolitions expert, Teddy Hamilton, the expert driver, Xavier Valerio, the tech genius, and Rita Eldir, the best collector of information Xena had ever known. A few others were there, mostly from the small but powerful field unit. These looked particularly tired as they stood there, silently.

"Hello, Xena." Charlie smiled, chipper as ever. Xena looked around at everyone. They seemed impatient, as if they were waiting for something. "Did I miss anything? Where are Hartley and Carr? What's going on?" Xena asked, wondering what everyone seemed so hyped up about. "I bet you'll be so excited to hear what happened! Hartley and Carr will be here soon. They'll be here to brief you, since you will probably be helping them." Teddy piped up, obviously excited.

Suddenly, Hartley and Carr walked into the room. They both looked exhausted, but they were met with the rest of the group, who looked on them with excitement and curiosity. Carr said nothing, but Hartey looked at Xena steadily. "Xena. Come with us." He said, motioning for her to follow him. Leaving her half finished coffee on her desk, she walked behind Hartley, who led the way. Carr brought up the rear. Soon, they came to the containment room. "Remember, Xena, your task is to find out answers." Hartley spoke quietly, opening the door. Xena could barely keep from gasping. There, bound and unconscious, lay her brother on a cot. "We apprehended him at around 1 o' clock this morning. He met up with a known member of the Golden Hands, and we caught him as he left. He put up a fight, but we managed to secure him. Your task is to find out what he was sent to do, alongwith any additional information he can give us."

Cassian. Xena stared in shock at her brother. He seemed fine and mostly uninjured apart from his leg, which had been bandaged up, probably by Carr. She looked back at Hartley and Carr, trying to hide her shock. "H-how can I ask him questions if he is unconscious? Do you know anything about who he is? Have you interrogated him too?" She looked at her brother again, gazing at the face she had not seen in so long. Cassian...why must it be like this. "He'll wake up in a bit. Carr has made sure of that." Hartley replied softly. "Don't worry, he can't go anywhere. His right leg is punctured in two places." Carr added, misunderstanding the shake in Xena's voice. Xena didn't answer, but Hartley caught the look in her eyes. "Carr, let's leave her alone. Come on." Carr made a sound of protest, but Hartley glared at him and he relented. The two men left the room, closing the door behind them. Now that they were gone. Xena rushed to Cassian, watching for any sign of conciousness as she stood silently before him. Cassian, how long has it been?

Cassian Everhart [Crow]

Everything was dark, and Cassian could only feel a throbbing pain. Where it was, he did not know. Nor did he care. He was too shaken and still needed time to wake up. He could barely hear what was going on around him, just an indistinct mumble of voices. Beginning to come to his senses, he could feel pressure placed on his leg. Cassian wasn't sure what it was, but within a few minutes he realized someone was touching his leg. This caused him a bit of discomfort, but he could not react. He was still not fully conscious, even though he was gradually becoming more so. As time went on, he grew more alert. He dared not open his eyes, and just listened at what was going on. Soon, he heard a voice. "Hartley, you think Everhart should do this? I know she's good at interrogation, but I'm just not sure it's a good idea." Another voice answered, "She'll do fine, Carr. Besides, she's been begging me for something more exciting than going through files anyways." Everhart? Who are they talking about? Cassian wondered, trying to think why they would say that name. By now, he was almost fully concious, but still he kept his eyes closed. He decided it was best if they thought he was still unconscious, then perhaps he could escape right under their noses. First, he had to find out how to escape. He seemed to be restrained by multiple straps, and from the feel of metal around his wrists, he knew he was handcuffed to something.

His escape plan would have to wait, however, until he could have some time alone. He heard the sounds of a door opening, and the footsteps of two people walking out. He listened as the sound faded, and waited until the door clicked to open his eyes. He opened them slightly at first, just in case anyone was still in the room. Seeing that no one was there, he opened his eyes completely. The room was completely grey, and there were no windows. He was lying on a cot, bound by four or five restraints. As he suspected, he was handcuffed. This puts me in a bit of a tough spot. Cassian thought as he saw his predicament. Struggling against the restraints, he tested their sturdiness and felt for enough room to move around. Unfortunately for him, the person who put them on obviously knew their stuff. He could not move at all, yet no circulation was cut off. Groaning inwardly, Cassian was beginning to wonder just how long he'd be stuck there for.

Suddenly, Cassian's ears picked up the sound of approaching footsteps. Closing his eyes, he pretended to still be unconscious as he waited for the incoming footsteps. Just as he went limp, the door opened. He wanted to see who it was, but he knew that if he opened his eyes, he would give himself away, so he waited for whoever it was to speak. A voice he heard before, the one named Hartley, spoke. Hartley said something about apprehending him, and he could hear the man talk to someone else about their 'task'. Hah! They wish they could get information out of me. Cassian almost chuckled, but remained silent as he waited. Suddenly, he heard a new voice. A voice he had not heard in a long, long time. Is that...Xena? Then it dawned on him. He was the captive of Xena's group. The group he had been assigned to terminate. He could barely believe it, and now that he knew who he was with, he had no idea what to do.

"Don't worry, he can't go anywhere. His right leg is punctured in two places." The man named Carr said. Cassian heard what Carr said, and remembered what had happened just a few hours before. Now that he thought about it, it did hurt, but the pain was dulled somehow. He couldn't help but wonder why they actually tried to heal it. Did Xena...tell them about me? No, she couldn't have. But why did they...? His thoughts were cut off by Hartley's voice, ordering Carr to follow him and leave Xena alone. He could hear Carr make an attempt at a protest, but it immediately quieted down. Once the door closed, he heard the sound of Xena rushing up to him. He couldn't control it any longer. He opened his eyes.

There was Xena, older than when he had last seen her. She still had the same chocolate brown hair, the same green eyes. Just like mom. Cassian couldn't help but think. "Xena." He spoke, looking into her eyes. "I seem to be in a bit of a predicament. Xena, I need your help." Cassian said quietly, careful not to be overheard. He knew she wasn't going to help him if he asked. He knew how she felt about him, but he had to see her again. He knew what he was hired to do, and he knew Xena was in danger. He had to protect his little sister, but he had to be careful.

Xena Everhart

Xena still could not believe it. Her brother, who she had not seen in years, was lying unconscious right in front of her. The initial shock gradually lessened, but it was some time until she could think again. How did he end up like this? She wondered, And what could he have done to attract the notice of my unit? He had better explain himself when he wakes up. Shock was starting to be replaced by a combination of other emotions. She was happy to see Cassian again, but she felt sad for him in this situation he was in. A simmering sense of anger was there too. Why did he leave her, not even saying a word? Why did she see nothing of him for five years? Staring at Cassian's face, she couldn't help but notice how he looked older than she had remembered him. The boyish expression she recalled was gone now. It was replaced by a colder and more serious look. You have grown in these five years, Cassian.

Looking at her brother, she gazed at the bandaged leg. While it hurt her to see Cassian like this, she wondered how he could have gotten in this situation in the first place. She knew that Hartley would never give an order to do this to anyone if he even had a bit of uncertainty about their involvement. She had never heard from him in years, so she didn't know what exactly he had been doing all that time. It hurt her to think of what he must have gotten into, but she couldn't just avoid the possibility of it. If only he was awake. Then I could ask him about this. Despite herself, she was kind of glad to see Cassian again. Of course, this was like nothing she had expected, but at least he was there.

Suddenly, Xena realized that she had a job to do. She was sent to interrogate him. What can I do? If he won't talk, what can I do? Hartley is expecting information, and what will happen to Cassian if he refuses? I can't force him to say anything, he's my brother. I can't do this to him! She thought to herself, deciding that she would not hurt Cassian, even if she was told to. Reunited with him at last, she couldn't do such a thing!

Xena was faced with a difficult situation. Here was Cassian, captured by her group as a suspect or worse. She was tasked with getting information out of him, possibly with force if she had to. Her leader expected results, and she didn't want to think about what would happen to Cassian if he refused to give anything. Hartley knew the dangers of the gang they were up against, and if he knew Cassian was involved, he wasn't going to let him go free for a long time.

Lost in her thoughts, Xena didn't notice the change in Cassian's expression at first. Her predicament and her fear of what would happen were growing in her, and for a few minutes, she didn't notice that Cassian was awake. Finally, as her swirling thoughts subsided, her looked at her brother. Suddenly, she noticed that his eyes were open. Barely able to say something, she looked in surprise at the eyes she had not seen for a long time. "Cassian?" She said shakily, looking at him with a searching gaze. He was like the Cassian she knew, only his eyes seemed sharper, colder, and more piercing.

"Xena. I seem to be in a bit of a predicament. Xena, I need your help." Cassian spoke, carefully and quietly, as if he had not seen her in five years. His gaze fell on hers, and his eyes almost seemed to have a pleading look. The sudden surprise of hearing her brother talk took Xena aback, but she quickly recovered from it. A rising anger rushed up in her at her brother's words. How could he talk as if he'd never left! Her eyes glinting with the anger she felt, she shouted back. "How dare you ask for my help! You never cared to help me. No, not when you decided to see the world for five years and didn't even care to say goodbye! Now, for the first time in five years, I see you again and all you do is care for yourself! Do you know how hard it is to wonder if your own brother is still alive, since he never came back or even bothered to send a message! This is the first time I see you in five years and you're strapped to a bed with a broken leg and no word of explanation! And you have the gall to ask for my help!"

Xena hadn't meant to shout, but all that worry and sorrow she carried throughout the years was replaying in her mind, and she couldn't help but speak her mind. She had enough of it, and now that Cassian, who caused the most of it by what he had done, was right before her, she finally had a chance to confront him about it. She didn't even care about interrogating him anymore. If he wanted help, he could ask Hartley for it. Her thoughts muddled in her anger, she stormed toward the door, intent on asking Hartley to do the interrogation. After all, he was the chief interrogator. Surely he could deal with this.

Cassian Everhart

"Cassian?" Xena had said, her voice shaking. Cassian was surprised by his sister's voice. He had not imagined his fiery little sister to sound so...uncertain and afraid. He certainly never expected this from her. He was tempted to talk to her, and comfort her if he could. However, he remembered that he had to be careful not to relay anything that might give him away, for although he wanted to warn Xena, he didn't want to alert the rest of her group to his plans. After all, if they knew he was a member of the Blackbirds, they would probably throw him in jail immediately, and he would not be able to protect Xena. He doubted their ability to keep themselves safe, perhaps with the exception of the man named Hartley and a few others.

Looking back at her, he had decided to ask her for help. Xena's expression changed quickly as he spoke to her carefully. At first, she seemed surprised by his voice. Then, as he finished speaking, he could see her change. Her eyes took on that fiery look he remembered, buy with a glint that he couldn't interpret. He barely had time to note this change when she exploded, bursting into a shout as she released her frustration, fear, sorrow, and rage. Cassian winced at her words. They cut deep, deeper than even she had perhaps expected. He never realized how much his actions impacted her, and he never knew just how much she had to go through because of it. A pang of guilt went through him, and he tried to ease it, but her words cut deep. Her eyes relaid to him the suffering she had gone through, and despite himself, he had to look away. How could he ever explain it to her? How could he explain what he had done, leaving without a word all those years ago?

He tried to explain himself, but he was so shocked by her words that he couldn't even reply. What could he have done? He had been sworn to secrecy by his guild, and promised not to put himself in a position that would endanger the guild. He also did it partially to protect her. He had made a good deal of enemies along the way, and if they had done something to her, he would never forgive himself. Why then, did he never tell her he was leaving? For that, he had a hard time finding an answer.

I have to tell her why I did it, but she won't understand. I never thought how much it hurt her. If only I had known... Another wave of guilt washed over him as he thought about her words. He knew she would refuse to hear any explanation he tried to give her. She had grown up so much, and yet she was still the same determined little sister he knew her as. He knew that he was going to have a tough time trying to persuade her.

Suddenly, he saw Xena turn and start walking toward the door. "Xena? Xena! Wait!" He called out to her, but to no avail. No! She can't leave now! I have to warn her! Desperate to keep Xena from leaving, he struggled against the restraints. Unfortunately, they had been put on too well. Try as he might, he could not loose them. Instead, he had to ignore the shooting pain that erupted in his leg. Wincing and biting down on his lip, he gave it one last attempt. It didn't loosen, but the cot underneath rocked with the force.

Finally, just as Xena reached the door, he called to her again. "Xena! Stop! You're in danger!" He shouted, weaker from his struggles with the restraints. He went limp, sweating from the exertion and pain. He lay there, looking at his sister with pleading eyes. This was his last resort. If she didn't listen to this, there was nothing he could do. Please, Xena. Please. You have to listen to me. His leg was screaming at him, shooting sharps pangs in protest, but he didn't care. All he cared about was relaying his warning. He had to. He knew what would happen if he didn't.
