He will still try to get her back and stalk her but he moved an hour away. Ben Wynder- Freshman year to sophomore year, was a friends to lover type relationship she knew him for 3 years before dating, he helped her get her confidence back after Trent, it was a mutual breakup they were on different paths, he was her first kiss but hasn't had her first time, they are on good terms but he is in a different school district Others: Aunt Lyndsey- moms sister, the fun aunt lives in FL but will come up to visit and will take frequent trips to visit her Cousin Addison- she is 4 and Lyndsey's daughter she is sassy but very cute Auni doesn't mind her but she isn't a huge baby person Cousin Joey- he is 12 he is super relaxed and funny Auni Is close with him and she is the most out of her shell with him Grandma Peggy- Dads mom she lives nearby she has the best stories and Auni is very close with her Grandpa Dan- Dads dad Auni is also very close with him he loves boats and is a great cook she bakes a lot with her grandparents and loves visiting them Backstory Auni was not supposed to be an only child but life didn't go as planned for her parents. They tried to have a few other kids but unfortunately it didn't work as they hoped. So, it's just been Auni and her parents. She loves her family but they don't always understand her sometimes she feels like the outcast to them. She is by herself a lot but she doesn't mind she enjoys it for the most part. There are days though where she wished she had more company. She brought up the idea of an exchange student for the year to her parents after her friends Kelsey and Layla had one from Spain. They weren't sure at first but then they found a company and we were given a few to choose from. Ideally they wanted a girl because they were nervous about having a boy in the house but a lot of the girls just didn't seem like the best fit based on interests. Then they found Theo and both her, her family, and the companies supervisor thought it would be the best match. House They live in a 3-bedroom 2 story house 2 blocks from the beach. It is light blue on the outside and has a small fenced-in backyard. They have neighbors but they aren't super close with them. Aunis bedroom sits between the office and guest room. Her parent's room is at the end of the hallway. Their high school which is called Coastal Heights High is 15 minutes away. When Auni woke up today she was actually kind of excited because for a change something new was happening. She was definitely a bit hesitant because she was unsure how having an exchange student would go. She has been an only child for so long and no she would essentially have to share a lot of things and interact. They were able to briefly chat with Theo a few days before pick up day to get to know him a little more. Auni preferred in person rather than text so she probably came off as a little dry or unwelcoming. Charleston International Airport was about an hour and half from their house. Her parents were the most excited as they have wanted another person in the house for so long. They had set up the guest room but left it fairly open so he could put whatever he wanted in it, they also got him a small welcome basket with some snacks, a water bottle, a backpack, and charleston magnet. They finally reached the airport as Auni watched out the window and took her airpods out and pressed pause on her phone to the song Someone like you by Kings of Leon. They had received a email with Theo's flight info on it so hopefully it was on time. Her dad parked the car as her and her mom got out and found the international arrivals. They looked on the board to find his flight number and they went to the terminal. They waited on a bench until they were able to see doors open. Once they picked Theo they were able to see 3 pictures but nothing really prepares you for when you meet them in person. Auni wasn't sure what to expect he seemed nice but she doesn't trust people easily especially guys. They watched each face pass by trying to find one that looked like his. This is going to be very different year for Auni, but she is trying to keep an open mind and thinks she will adjust to having a guy in her house. |

Theodore Girard - As the plane landed, Theo finished up his sketch in his sketchbook and stuffed it into his backpack. Theo had always loved art. He always loved trying to draw and sculpt and paint difficult and tricky things, like people and hands. He had just finished an entire page of multiple little hand sketches. Theo clicked pause on his music, Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader, and popped his AirPods back into their case. He stood up, slinging his backpack over his shoulder. Theo stepped out into the aisle, and along with the other passengers on the plane, he pulled his carry-on suitcase from the overhead bins. He wheeled his suitcase out and off the airplane, walking out with the rest of the passengers, minding his business. Theo had talked with the Phelps over text and a few phone calls. They had sent her a few family pictures, but he could tell that the photos were a bit outdated, so he wasn't 100% sure who to look for when he got off. He knew they had a daughter about his age, and he had told the parents about his situation with his parents, but he didn't tell the daughter. Hell, he hadn't even talked to the daughter yet. As Theo stepped into the airport, he looked around for any sign of a family waiting for a passenger. But there were quite a bit of people, either waiting for a passenger off this flight, waiting for the next flight out of this gate, or getting off this flight. He adjusted his backpack over his shoulder. His bags were quite heavy, almost exceeding the limit, but he had managed to pack all of his belongings in his backpack and his carry-on suitcase, with the exception of his dog, Molly, which sadly, had to stay back in France, along with his sister, Scarlett. |

Auden looked around and then out of the corner out her eye she spotted someone who looked kind of like the pictures and was the only person with an abnormally large amount of luggage. It would’ve made sense especially since he’s staying the whole year. She tapped her moms shoulder and lightly pointed, they made there way over. “Hi are you Theodore Girard?” Her mom asked the young boy who stood before her. Auden studied him, he looked a bit different than the pictures his hair was a little longer and he looked just a bit more…grown up? She guessed. He wasn’t bad looking but his personality is what she cares about. She is hoping he is who he said he was on paper and didn’t just lie about everything to come to the US. Her family is important to her and she doesn’t want him messing it up. Her RBF doesn’t make her look the friendliest to approach and honestly sometimes she isn’t. But she knew this was important and so she wanted to at least try to look decently welcoming. She is slow to warm up but she keeps telling herself it won’t be so bad. Sometimes with new things it takes her awhile to get used to it. |

Theo smiled as the little family walked over to him. "Yeah, I'm Theo." he introduced himself. "Are you guys the Phelps?" he asked, his French accent was very thick. Theo took in the family, looking at the mom and the dad first. They looked friendly, so he wouldn't have to worry about the negligence he'd gotten back in France from his parents with this family. Although when he looked over their daughter, she didn't look too happy about him coming to live with them... or very friendly either. Theo took a mental note of this, maybe it was best to stay clear of the girl and give her space, to not agitate her anymore. Even though the girl wasn't being too welcoming, Theo just kept smiling, happy as ever, and completely fine. |

Her mom gave a smile, "We are, it's so nice to finally meet you! I am Amelia but you can call me Amy. This Is my husband Jason, and our daughter Auden," she explained. Auden glanced over and pulled herself together to form words. "Hi, everyone just calls me Auni," she said casually but for her, she felt a bit awkward because they were meeting someone they barely knew for the first time. Just off of a first look their style seemed sort of similar and he seemed nice. Her family has traveled a little bit but has never been to France, she has always wanted to go. She has been to the UK, Spain, Greece, and the Bahamas but that's it. She has been taking French in school although she is not very good. She loves the culture of France and even though she isn't the biggest fan of love and relationships she still will occasionally dream and journal that she will find someone she can tolerate and that will put up with her. "Are there any more bags you need to get or is this everything? Jason can get the car and we can help you with your bags," her mom asked Auden wasn't trying to be rude but this was all very new for her and she didn't know what to expect. She isn't quick to trust but once you get through to her and gain her trust and... her heart, she is very loyal and quite fun to be around. She is just guarded after being drug through the ringer a few times by immature emotionally unavailable guys. |

Theo smiled and listened as they introduced themselves. "Hello, Amy and Jason," he said with a smile. Now that he had said their names, he would remember them. "Hello, Auni," he said politely giving the girl a respectful nod. Auni was quite pretty. Not french girl pretty, but a different kind of pretty. A better kind of pretty. Her hair was beautiful, the way it settled on her shoulders. It was similar to Scarletts in color, but Scarlett always had cut hers short. Auni's was long and beautiful. Her eyes were a gorgeous shade of green, something Theo didn't see a lot of in France. For some reason Theo mostly saw blue and brown eyes in Europe, not green. Most people say silly things about blue eyes like 'Eyes so blue, I drown' or 'Can't stop staring at those ocean eyes' or 'I could get lost in her bluest of blue eyes', but for Theo, he would get lost in the green eyes. Theo could've just stared at the girl, all day probably, but he didn't want to stare and make it an awkward situation, so he averted his eyes and looked back over at Amy and Jason. "This is everything" Theo said simply. "I think I can handle everything, but thanks" Theo wasn't a man of many words, thats for sure. Especially around new people. Back with his friends, he could yap away for hours, but with new people, and people he didn't know, he spoke just enough to be polite. |

"That's great! Did you have a good flight?" her mom asked him as they made their way out of the busy airport. Her dad was waiting by a curb in their white Volkswagon Atlas. Auni was relatively quiet but she decided to be polite. "Are you more of a left-side person or a right-side person?" she asked him as she pointed to the seats while opening the car door. She wanted him to be comfortable sitting in the car. She had always preferred the right side because you can usually see the beach from there but as long as no one needed to sit in the middle she would be content. The more she thought about the more that was such a dumb question but at least it was something. Sometimes if she is nervous she can either never shut up or will barely say a word. "So Theo...You like animals right? I remember reading you had a dog," her mom said breaking the ice a little bit as they made sure everything was able to get loaded up into the car. "You are in for a real treat because Sadie loves people, she is pretty active and energetic but she also loves attention she will probably be your best friend," her dad chimed in. Auni tried to hold back a slight scoff if anything she wanted Sadie to like her more she helps her cope with new things and that dog has been there for her for so many different things. Each family fight, every break up, and lots of math homework. "She will usually sleep in my room but if you give her any treats she might betray me," Auni said attempting to be a bit funny she Is most comfortable around her family and she doesn't want him to affect that but something about it does. It is a strange change, in a way she was secretly glad she didn't have any "full-time" siblings because she thinks this might be all she can handle right now. |
