Vinda slid her gaze back over to him, one eye raised with an unimpressed look at his tone... although inside her mind was in mild shock. She hadn't realized so much had happened to him! How on earth had he survived all that! But she made sure not to reveal her shock. "Hmph, precisely, the next time you get in a scrape it might be your last" she said shortly, glaring at his mumble and denial. "Well then, it's a good thing you aren't very self respecting, at least in your own mind" she retorted, then got to work on the leg, having wasted enough time with banter, although her face was set in a stubborn frown.
Carefully she dabbed the water soaked moss on the wounds, attempting to clear away the dried blood, wincing each time she knew it must sting, her expression softening slightly as she thought about all the battles he must have fought... all the wounds he must have had to take care of on his own. What a life. Realizing the moss had cleared away the worst of it, she spat it out and reached for the other herbs, being careful not to injest the yarrow as she gently placed the leaves on, then finished it by placing the cobweb on, pressing it with her nose to be sure it adhered to his fur, then stepping back to view her pawwork, glancing at him. "Well then... does that feel any better?" she asked, feeling suddenly apologetic for being so harsh earlier... not that she would take back any of it anyway, but still. |

Scarred Thorn Alpha Male Scar sighed a little, having given up on arguing with her. "And that's why I'm letting you treat this wound." He answered quietly, even though he wanted to say otherwise. His ears pinned a little with pain as she started at work on his leg- Lilah had got it good. Scar waited it out and tried not to look too injured. "It's fine. I'm going to go ahead and assume you want to know about who those wolves were, and you deserve to know, so before you go spewing off on how I need to do a better job taking care of myself- here's the shortened story." Scar lifted his head slightly. "A long time ago, when I was 3 or 4 and rather niave and stupid... I met a wolf named Lilah. We became *friends* spent time together, and since I was social and had lost my family I yearned for someone I could spend time with. I fell into her trap too easily.. fell right in love with her.. just to overhear a conversation. Lilah, Boulder, her real mate, and Jock, Boulder's brother, were all talking, chatting, laughing about how I was so stupid to fall for that trick. How Lilah thought it was hilarious and she couldn't wait to see my pitiful face when she told me. Hearing this, instead of confronting them, I ran like the coward I was." He paused with a wince at how pitiful that sounded, then sat up with a small grimace of pain. "If I had to guess she was angry about not getting to tell me and she just wanted to torture me some more." |

Vinda nodded with satisfaction, then her eyes widened. She had not expected him to be so willing to share! But if he was, she certainly would not say anything otherwise.. any glimpse into his life she would welcome. Quietly she sat down, giving her answer, then giving him her entire attention, a slight concentrating wrinkle on her brow. But as he spoke, her eyes widened in shock. Of all she had assumed... a broken heart would never have been one of her first guesses. Pity was, she was ashamed to admit, her first emotion, but as she imagined the scene, and heard of how that she-wolf had betrayed him, anger sparked inside her, and by the time he had finished, her eyes were glittering with this emotion. "OF all the insecure full of themselves bullying wolves ever, she has to be the worst!" she burst out, her hair bristling slightly. "I can't believe any wolf could do such a vile thing as betray a wolf, especially after just losing your family!" she spat out, then registered the fact that he'd called himself a coward, which did not help her sudden mood. "That is not cowardly at all, in fact what would've been cowardly would have been confronting them, and then getting pummeled by three wolves" she pointed out with narrowed eyes. "If she ever comes back here" she added, glancing at the forest border as if it was her enemy suddenly. |

Scarred Thorn Alpha Male Scar watched her face for emotion, surprised to see Vinda looking like she was going to explode. She was FUMING. He also saw pity, which made Him angry. He hadn't told her that just to get pitied. If he wanted that he would have gone to his dead mother. When she burst out, Scar actually did look surprised. "hey hey hey, calm down before you start the forest on fire." He snorted heavily, his ears flicking. "Vindaria, it is in the past. Mostly. I just told you that so you would understand why I am not social. I used to be the most open, happy wolf- that all changed in a single day. I learned an important lesson that day... It doesn't matter what you do or how you look, wolves will see you how they want to see you." Scar said quietly. |

Vinda snorted in unamusement at his comment, still feeling rather a lot of anger surging through her, but at his suddenly quiet explanation, she felt it drain out of her. So that was why. Now... now she did understand. How one experience could change anothers outlook on life so swiftly... she shook her fur slightly to get her ponderous thoughts organized, then looked straight at Scar, her anger completely petered out. "I understand, Scar, thank you for telling me, for letting me understand." she said quietly. "And yes, that is true, they will see you how they want to see you. The real thing is, you can't let that change who you are. That's just letting them bend you to be the person they want you do be. Be yourself, don't let others bend or twist you!" she said, her voice firm and serious, showing she quite truly believed in this. |

Scarred Thorn Alpha Male Scar could see Vindaria deflate like a balloon with a hole popped in it. He didn't really want to sit any longer, so he laid down again with a small sigh. "I told you because I thought you were the type of wolf to not pity me, but because I thought it would help you understand why I'm like I am now. And believe me... it wasn't just one occurance of the world letting me down. It all started when my family was killed and I'm sure it'll end when I don't have the spark to keep on running." He shook the thick fur on his neck a little, his dark blue eyes steely. At her last comment he lowered his head a little. "You see, that's where cowardice comes in. For years I have been downright too scared to ever go back to my normal self. Too scared I'd let someone get too close just to find out it was a hoax, a lie, a dare, a game. Too scared that I would get hurt. That's what i call being a coward. Doing things that hurt others because you are too scared to man-up and do what's best for others." Scar closed his eyes for a moment. "Also, before I say this, I beg of ou not to give me some bull about why you don't want me to change. I want to change. I will never get back to normal- I've let the wound fester for far too long. However, I'm hoping to regain some of the joking cheerfulness I once had. Telling you this is a first step so PLEASE do NOT go stomping ALL OVER my ideas because i said the words *I want to change*" Scar huffed a little, looking rather indignant. |

She looked at her paw and licked it a little "Well now i know it's not broken, i left during the night and followed that path" Flick pointed her nose to a small path going into the woods "It led me to a small creak, i washed my paw in there. After that it stopped hurting! See?" Felicity said lowering her front left paw to the ground and surprising him by standing up to her full height "All better!" She said with a laugh, she sat back down "I can hunt now. And again, i'm an excellent hunter! Soooo... When do your pack members start hunting? Actually, when do i meet them?" She asked tilting her head at Bo curiously |

Vinda winced slightly at his first words, feeling guilty, as it had been her first emotion to flash through her. As he lay down, she hesitated for a moment, then quietly lay down as well, so he would not have to crane his head up to talk, and also it felt strange to sit higher than the Alpha. Her pale eyes were serious as she listened, narrowing slightly as he spoke of his spark running out, and feeling quite the urge to speak up, just barely able to keep her mouth clamped shut, seeing as he seemed very serious at the moment. And then... he poured himself out. Shock and amazement filled her. He was... confiding! in her! His emotions, his goals... she only she really knew how to support and uplift him in all he wished to accomplish! Almost holding her breath she gave him her entire concentration, ears pricked forwards, flicking slightly in disagreement a few times, but mostly just staying still.
A smile did jump to her muzzle at his indignant expression and ending words, and she let out a very slight laugh "Don't worry, I'll try not to" she said, half seriously, then getting serious, a small wrinkle of concentration appearing on her brow as she remembered all he'd said, getting her thoughts together before answering. "Scar, I won't lie, my first reaction was akin to pity, but that is certainly the farthest emotion in my mind now. And I have to say... i'm almost overjoyed to hear that you want to change, to get back to how you were! If you said you wanted to change so people would like you in general, then I would attempt to crush it. But to hear of how you used to be, before life threw it's heaviest sorrows on you, I certainly support you wishing to change. And although you may deny this as much as you want, the truth of the matter, is that what you have just said to me, is the bravest thing I have ever seen you do." she paused, then added with a slightly more teasing glint in her eye "But you know that I don't believe in bashing yourself up about your past mistakes, as much as I know you want to. If you want to change, it starts with being more cheerful towards yourself" she said, raising her eye almost challeningly for him to debate that fact. |
