Scar couldn't resist a chuckle as Vindaria dove at his words, practically eating the bait, line, and sinker. "It's either that or I starve." He pointed out, but dropped the matter at her forlorn expression. So she really was guilty. He really couldn't think of a reason why... maybe females were just like that? It was weird. Scar perked his ears slightly as he listened to her explanation, looking more and more shocked as she continued. He finally couldn't stand it anymore. He burst into laughter, which really hurt, but it felt good too. His side hurt, and his shoulder burned, and he felt bad, but man did he need this. "Wait so..." He paused to catch his breath. "I'm sorry. I probably didn't hear you correctly. You're guilty because you think if you COULD fight off a few *mangy coyotes* that I would be perfectly dandy? Honestly, I apologize for laughing, but..." Scar grinned, chuckling again. "That is the funniest thing I've heard for days." He wiped the smile off his face and turned serious. "Vindaria, you know me well enough by now, you can answer this question yourself. Do you think if any wolf was there, no matter if there was 1 coyote or 1,000,000,000, no matter if they were fine or not, that I would still jump in?" He stopped with a small sigh. "It wouldn't matter if you were a day old, or 16 years old, it wouldn't matter if you were in prime fighting condition or half-dead and weaker than a stick. I would still risk my life, even if I didn't need to. This would've happened no matter what. I'm sure you were capable, with Frostbite's help, of doing it by yourself. My eye is in no way, shape, or form, your fault. I feel guilty that I didn't help earlier." Scar explained with a slight hint of sadness in his voice.

Scar rolled his eyes slightly. "Because I don't accept food. I want to hunt my own." He mumbled, but now he felt the tiniest bit bad for laughing. She looked so hurt. Well, no, then understanding. Admiration? Frustration? GUILT? STOP IT WITH THE GUILT! Scar narrowed his eyes slightly as she started her outburst, letting out snorts throughout almost the whole thing. "Vindaria, no one could have fought off a pack 20 strong of coyotes! No one, okay? I got there surprisingly quickly for how much it hurt." He stated firmly, but flinched a little at the middle part. Was he... really uncaring for those who cared for him? That's not what he was trying to be like... he... he just wanted to protect them. He wanted to protect Vindaria, but.. maybe that was the wrong thing to do. +Better than standing there and watching her get torn apart!+ He thought to himself, but still the hesitation lingered. Scar quieted after this berating. It was strange enough to have wolves that actually said they cared for him, but why couldn't he do it right? Trying to help them wasn't okay but standing on the sidelines wasn't either- what was he supposed to do?

Scar was now worried, again, like most other times. He knew he would never fully understand other wolves, but he wished he could at least grasp why they did what they did. Right now he felt like whatever he did was a mistake. Any way he helped, any way he didn't help, any way he did anything, it was all wrong. He didn't need to be appreciated, he just needed to kow that for once he did the right thing. Scar instinctively shifted backwards slightly as Vindaria got closer, letting out a low breath as she started speaking. No... he didn't want her to apologize! He just.. well, he didn't know what he wanted at this point. He wanted someone he could talk with without feeling like he had to step around every word, but he was never going to get that. "I cannot change who I am, you're right about that. And I'm sure everyone wishes that they could protect everyone themselves, myself included, but it is just impossible. I know you will never understand this, but if i had not come to help, you could be dead. You could be fully blind instead of me being half blind. Frostbite, even though I don't know her as well, could be dead. I would much rather be half blind for the rest of my life than to live a life without you, or this pack. Everything has a consequence, whether it be good or bad, and I have learned to live with what life throws at me. I guess that's the hardest part of being near me... you have to learn to live with it too. If you were half-blind right now with a permanent limp, and i only had a couple scrapes, I would feel the same way you do. I would be feeling mental pain and emotional guilt just like you. So don't apologize, just understand, if you can. understand that I'd rather it be me than you." Scar explained quietly, his gaze soft.

Scar waited silently for Vindaria to take in the information. He really hoped she understood... he never seemed to be understood and she was the one wolf who had done it before so maybe she could perform the miracle again. As she spoke he dipped his head a little, a small bit of relief showing on his face. "I knew that would be the best way to get you to understand." He couldn't help but saying with a small laugh. At her last words his ears flicked with amusement. "Sometimes it shocks even me how wise I can be." Scar joked with a small grin. "I'm just that easy to get attached to. How touching." He teased, shaking the fur on his neck slightly. There was no way he was going to be able to lay here, unmoving, for more than a couple more hours.
