Heather Storm | 22yrs | Eventing Rider | Bronze Buckaroo "Eclipse" and The Lovely Marisol "Etria" | M: Everyone at the front of the barn. Heather would place her riding gloves on before carefully adjusting them a tad bit then she grabs her riding helmet as she slips it onto her left arm then the young woman grabs a hold of her stallion's tack, carefully backing herself up while holding the equipment tightly in her arms before turning around then closes her tack locker door with her right foot then leaves the room as the brunette makes her way back to the wash stall of where she left Eclipse at. Once the young woman has reached her Dutch Warmblood stud. Heather walked under the cross tie on her left then sets the tack down on the wall that divided the two wash stalls. The brunette got to work by starting the grooming session off with a curry comb, going in a circle motion to get some loose hair or dirt out which the stallion very much enjoys being groomed as his top lip twitches a bit, having a relaxed look on his face while his ears are in a neutral position. After a few minutes of brushing down his seal brown coat and cleaning out all four hooves with a hoof pick, she placed the items back into the grooming box kit, she quickly left to put her grooming box kit away then a few minutes later, she came back to the wash stall where she left the impatient equine. "Okay, now to get you all tacked up. Thankfully I have everything packed for the camp out...well except rolling up my sleeping bag." Heather said a bit quietly, talking to Eclipse as if he could talk back but all she received in response was a loud snort. The brunette gave a soft chuckle, shaking her head a bit then she gets to work on tacking her equine up, luckily she grabbed her Western tack that the young woman usually used for long hacks/trail rides. She grabbed a crimson red western saddle pad then places it on the top of his withers, carefully sliding the pad down to his back. She grabs the dark walnut brown western saddle before gently placing the saddle on both the pad and his back. After making sure that the saddle is sitting comfortably on the equine's back, Heather works on the cinches as she starts pulling them upwards but the woman double checks to make sure that she didn't cinched them either to tight or to loose. After the final check with the cinches, Heather ducked under the left crosstie, stopping in front of her horse before carefully stretching out his front legs one at a time to make sure that his skin doesn't get pinched at all. Heather let go of his right front leg, she ducked under the right crosstie. Grabbing the walnut brown western bridle with a rubber bit attached to it, turning around to face her equine as she takes his halter off before the bridle onto Eclipse's face, carefully slipping the bit into his mouth as the stallion takes it. She carefully fastens and readjusts the bridle so the equipment sits comfortably on his face. Finally, she was done tacking up her horse. The woman grabs her backbag, slipping it onto her back then grabs her sleeping bag as she carefully rolls it up then ties it to the back of the saddle. The brunette quickly lead her stud out to meet up with the other riders and staff in front of the barn. Once she got there, Heather felt a bit embarrassed for being late then she puts her helmet on before mounting up. Using her upper body strength to pull herself up while using her left leg with her foot in the stirrup to push herself up as she swings the other leg up and over, gently seating herself as she carefully placed her other foot into the stirrup, gathering her reins a bit into her hands. (So sorry for the inactivity, I got really distracted with a lot of stuff from my personal life. I'll will try to get something out soon-ish) |

Anastasia Greyson (Anne) | Female | 26yrs | Rider | M: Taz, Others, Open . Rushing back to her horse Anne fixed the sleeping bag rolled up on Taz, "Good boy" She praised him before collecting her reins and stepping up on the stirrup then swinging herself on. Patting his neck Anne moved around a tad to get comfortable in her seat, Adjusting the reins slightly she clucked and had Taz walk around a little in a circle to check everything was in working order before she halted and waited for any signs they were going. . Tazzy Land (Taz) | Stallion | 5yrs | SJ | M: Anne, Others, Open . Snorting Taz watched the other horses and people moving about, They must've been going with them he guessed but Taz was still excited for whatever they were doing enjoying the thought of actually bonding with his rider again for the first time in a little while. Taz had never been on a trail ride before though they usually focused on showjumping not trails but the stallion was happy to give it his best for Anne, Standing still the dapple grays tail stayed raised showing his excitement, Paying attention to his rider Taz enjoyed the gentle pats on his neck feeling his rider move in the saddle leaning forward slightly. |

Skye Lovato | 21 yrs | Female | Eventing Rider | M: Keelan "Yes, Skye Lovato. And yes, I am an eventer. I will put Prada in her stall then get Nicky and his tack. It would be great to join y'all. I think I will like this place, it already seems much better than my old barn." She smiles and looks at Prada, who is happily nibbling away. "Oh yeah, where is her stall? Might be good to know." She looked around the area, noticing some other riders and was suddenly excited to meet everyone. Nickel On A Dime (Nicky) | Gelding | 12yrs | SJ XC | M: Skye, Keelan "Where is Skye? Why did she leave me? She took Prada but not me. Is she coming back for me?" He was chewing on his alfalfa in the trailer, but he wanted out of there. Of course, he didn't want to try and break out like Prada sometimes does. But he wants out. He looked out the window and saw Skye with Prada, and Skye was talking to someone. Who? Why? Oh well, he would have to wait for Skye to come get him. |

Keelan O'Brien | Owner/ dressage Instructor | M: Skye, Everybody else He calls out a hurried stall number before disappearing at the head of the group. He lets out a sharp whistle in hopes of catching everyone's attention, "We just have a couple of riders left to join us, so until then check and double-check you have everything. And, of course, prepare for a ride, as our camp is across the entire property. However, our first stop is a few hours away, and if all goes well, we can make it to the shores of Lake Haven around lunch for a picnic in what I call the definition of scenic meadows. Not to mention we can all enjoy some much-needed swimming to beat the summer heat." Keelan's eyes search the group, a large smile spreading across his face as he finishes his small speech, "I hope everybody is as excited for this as I am." |

(Roughly early-mid summer? As for state/country-wise? I haven't decided, but I feel the plains-type areas of Wyoming would best fit due to how expansive it is) |

Juliet Thatcher | 26 F | Working Student/Rider Location: Barn A / Courtyard | Tags: Open It had been a whirlwind morning - well several days. Okay - like months, but who was counting! Since starting her internship a few months ago - chaos had taken on a new definition. While school had prepared her to be booksmart when it came to running and operating a barn, and her last internship had taught her about what it was like on a breeding farm - Staghaven had been something new. Her interest peaked when she learned it would be an opportunity to follow her riding career passion while also learning the ins and outs of managing a working stable with lessons, boarders, and everyone else. Juliet had spent the past few days helping to make the final touches on the property to get it ready for the new guests. It had actually been an exciting time - going through with a manager's eye on making sure equipment, fences, stalls, and just about everything else was in good repair as well as in its best presentation. Only a bit stressful to make sure the last coat of whitewash was applied, the pastures mowed, and the tack room in great standing (every last piece of leather scrubbed to an inch of its life and shining!). It was a great learning opportunity - which she valued (if not at the time then maybe a bit later down the road when all her muscles stopped aching). Working alongside Keelan O'Brien was a wonderful experience and she felt like she knew him just a little bit better. This morning of course started off with the farrier being called to come tack shoes on a couple of the horses and she remembered just in time that she had to bring up a couple of the broodmares to be pregnancy checked by the vet (who fortunately enough was twenty minutes behind schedule giving Juliet enough time to run them up from the back pasture and knock the dust off them). All of this meant - she was late. She needed to get up to Barn A before the coaches meeting. A quick check of her watch and she realized that she was way behind on getting her butt in gear to help Keelan and participate in the day's activities. Grabbing her phone from her left back pocket, Juliet made a quick note in the stablehand chat about the new delivery of feed that would be coming in this afternoon, and to make sure the older supply was moved to the front so it would be used first. The brunette scrambled around the corner and nearly ran into a sea of horses. Her mind blanked heavily as she took in the milling crowd. Why so many of them in the courtyard? Why are they wearing backpacks and saddlebags? You could practically see Juliet's brain kick into gear as she remembered the day's activity. The Camp Out. She had even helped stock the campsite and clear off brush on one of the trails earlier in the week. Back peddling with some speed, Juliet made it to her cabin in record time - practically zipping in and zipping out with her (pre-packed - thank you Earlier Juliet) backpack. Through the back entrance to the A Barn, she skipped in to the tack room and quickly compiled her needed equipment before seeking out her horse.
⚝ Hoping she hadn't missed much, Juliet quickly mounted her bay thoroughbred and adjusted the straps on her pack. Peregrine was eager to be part of the group - he'd been in the barn hollering away at not being part of the fun (until Juliet shushed him up with a horse muffin and apologies). (hope this is okay! - let me know if I need to change anything or if anyone wants our characters to interact) |

Skye Lovato | 21 yrs | Female | Eventing Rider | M: Keelan, everyone I guess "Thanks so much Keelan." She brings Prada to her stall and latches the door. She checks the water bucket then walks rather quickly back to her trailer to get Nickel. "Hey bud, it's me. We have to get you groomed and tacked up." She untied him from the trailer and led him out. She grabbed his tack, grooming kit, and the backpack with everything she would need for the camp. She brought Nicky to an open cross tie and gave him a treat before grooming his handsome dapple grey coat. Once she was done grooming him and picking out his hooves she stuck some brushes and the hoof pick in her backpack and tacked him up. The saddle pad was a forest green color that matched Skye's quarter zip short sleeve sun shirt. She put on his dark brown jumping saddle and his bridle that matched. After standing and admiring her work she put on her helmet and led him away from the cross ties. Skye mounted the dapple grey and balanced herself in the saddle. She clucked him forward and walked to the front of the barn where most of the riders seemed to be. She looked at the different riders, wondering whom else was an eventer like hereslf. Hopefully everyone here is nice, she thought while smiling and giving Nickel a pat and running her fingers through his short, tangle free mane. |
