Appearance: Vannessa has long black hair that falls in gentle waves to the small of her back. She has pale skin and blue eyes and she rarely wears makeup. Her clothes are practical yet elegant. When she is not working with the animals, she looks like she might be about to go onstage for a classical music performance. When she is working with the animals she puts her hair back in a low ponytail, but otherwise lets it hang loose.

Personality: Vannessa is quite reserved. She loves music of all types, but she especially loves classical music. She plays the cello and when she is not working with animals she often can be found practicing her music. Vannessa also has a cool head and tends to see the logic when others might lose themselves to their emotions. She tends to push down her feelings in public and only expresses them with her music. The only time she has no guards up is when she is with animals or playing her cello.

Background: Vannessa's family is very wealthy, and her parents were rarely home because of their work. Vannessa was mostly raised by her maid, Mary, and the family Buttler. She used both music and riding as ways to feel more connected to the world around her and as ways of expressing her emotions in ways that were considered acceptable by high society.

Appearance: Hope is a dappled grey mare. The dapples are the strongest around her flanks and on her wings. Her chest and legs are almost completely white. If you look closely you can still see some of her original bay coat peaking through in her darker dapples. Her eyes are both blue due to a face marking that has been hidden by the grey. Her mane is quite long and Vannessa will often keep it braided so that it doesn't tangle.

Personality: Hope is an extremely sweet-tempered mare. She tends to take to people quite quickly and will come over to the fence whenever someone she knows passes by her pasture. She is still young and can sometimes spook at things that an older equine would not bat an eye at. At the end of the day, while she is friendly to everyone, she will be loyal to Vannessa above all.

Likes: Vannessa, carrots, flying in a light breeze

Dislikes: Snakes or anything that might be a snake, heavy rain or snow, dogs

Background: Vannessa's parents bought her for Vannessa when Hope was 3 because they wanted Vannessa to have a fancy mount if she was going to ride equines. Vannessa does not know where her parents got Hope exactly, but Hope does not seem to have any behaviors that suggest that she was in a bad place before Vannessa got her.

Appearance: Very thin, precariously so. Extraordinarily pale skin and contrasting short, shaggy black hair. Her face is sharp and looks unwelcoming, which couldn't be much further from the truth. She has a little stick-and-poke on her ribs of the Death tarot card that she got in the sixth grade because her friend dared her to. Her eyes are a dark brown, barely differentiated from the black of her pupils. She's always wearing lashes, with black eyeliner on her waterline. Her clothes are always casual, no matter the occasion- hoodies and sweats, or black breeches and a baggy t-shirt if she's riding.

Personality: She's down for anything. Any dare, trick, or potentially life-threatening act, she's probably already done it. She's a little bit too much for a lot of people, but it's hard not to find her funny with the situations she manages to get herself into. She's not very easily discouraged, making her oblivious in certain circumstances. On the more serious side, she basically lives for other people's approval and attention, no matter what it takes.

Background: Her father was a rich entrepreneur and politician who she saw maybe once a year growing up, but never really met as he lived for his work. Her mother was his first and ex-wife, and also a little crazy. She tried to get him in legal trouble, but he paid for her and Tessa to go live in a cute little farmhouse with horses and chickens so she would stop. Growing up, Tessa was either at a friends' house or riding her little pony around their neighborhood, going as fast as she could.

Personality: Very, very high energy and easily excited. Also tends to be more hot-headed and easily spooked, and often wears a red ribbon.

Background: Tessa's father bought her as Tessa's tenth birthday present, instead of coming to visit. Tessa hated her at first, but once she proved to be a challenging and dangerous ride, they quickly fell in love.
