Hi! So I've kind of fallen out of love with my Chaddlefield Account. I suppose Ashwell is now linked to Tredon Mawr and Chaddlefield just got a bit left out of it all. So, I've had the beginnings of a new idea for that account. So in the county of Havenshire, we have 2 native breeds, the Havenshire and the Merrigan. I was thinking about a third breed if thats alright. With the Havenshire's being PONs, and the Merrigan's a range of HEE breeds, I've decided to buy loads of WB's on this account and maybe make them a draft or heavy horse breed maybe? Though I still kind of want them to be a performance horse, so maybe not entirely a heavy horse. Or if we went back in history maybe they used to be a heavy horse breed but as they've been bred and the breed has evolved they've become less of a heavy horse, I don't know. That's what happened with Halflingers I believe. They used to be a lot smaller but after the war, they became much stronger. Not sure if this kind of idea would work. I'm thinking whatever new breed this is, maybe they have feathers and come in all colours? Maybe they have mostly blazes like shires (as the WBs on HEE remind me of shires) Maybe they have an excellent temperament. Though, I'm not sure about height. I want them to be big like heavy horses but still want them to be ridable. Any ideas? What do you think?

That's a great idea! There are a lot of horses that used to be classed as draft or heavy, or even war horses if you go back far enough, but are now used for all kinds of riding.

Well If all thats ok with you, all we need is a name for the breed. Then I'll write a description on my bio thing!! Also, I think I'll have a change from Chaddlefield. This account will be known as Ludbury Stables. If that's ok!!

Destriers were the war horses like the new stable name There is a horse called the Estonian Draft that might help with your breed bio for the new breed as can be ridden as well as has other uses - has different coloured feathers to main coat, not sure about colours or height. You could alternatively crossbreed Percheron with Appaloosa & create the best of both with patterns included in your WB. solids could be chestnut - Suffolk Punch bay - Clydesdale grey - Percheron black - Shire As Ludbury is creating the new breed the name can reflect that as e.g. Ludbury Triers or use a nearby landmark. Once your new breed has been created you could have some authority declare it as a new endangered breed. was thinking of using RID & WB for re-enactors - jousting war horses & film stunts something as an addition at the county shows or have at the castle. White Pons could act as palfreys due to being amenable & bombproof (for high ranking ladies.) Have you thought about what this new breed would do? normally the bigger horses would do forestry work, ploughing - competition for the straightest furrow, herding cattle, pulling competitions, delivery of brewery consumables.

Just finished catching up with your blogs Tredon, very good. As I'll be changing the map for the new name do you want me to add a small area for Kayleigh and Darren's farm? I can put it at the border between Tredon Mawr and Follyfoot just above Haul Rhostir and beside The Spring. I'll just need a name for the farm if you want me to add it.

I've posted a bit on my blog about the horses I keep at Ynys Hafod, could be useful info for you on some breed heights and colours. I was thinking about the Ludbury breed, as the stables is quite close to the mountains perhaps they'd be bred to be good all terrain endurance horses. Strong and stocky without being too heavy, good natured and able to deal with the rocky terrain easily as well as being good in other disciplines.
