I mean you could message Backwood and see if *maybe* they have a straw that you could use instead of the cover. (It says contact owner for straws, so IDK if there would be any or not. But you never know if you don't ask :P)

I think it has to do with whether or not a straw or an "LC" is used to make the embryo..? Not 100% sure though.

Embryo Transfer Update Revision

We have an adjustment to yesterday's Embryo Transfer update.

Embryos created from your Stallions/Watchlist will now count towards their own Embryo Count and not the Foal Count. Their foal count will be updated when the foal is born.

Your stallions will be allowed 10 embryos per year. So this is 10 additional breedings your stud can have on top of straws and live covers.
