I joined HEE in year 72, and then took a super long break. Along the way I picked up one of my favorite studs at the time, Universe Fantasy. Compared to modern day HEE studs, he wouldn't even be considered by mare owners to breed, but at the time he wasn't bad! As a 1/1 PEE stallion (W obviously wasn't a rating at this time, so he was pretty good!) He was having 20-30 foals each year, and passed on really good color and ratings. At one point he was even making me 250k-300k each year off stud fees.(It got to a point where he was mainly just used by color breeders, hence why he had no awards) I basically had an entire barn full of his foals, and continued breeding for color with his offspring after he retired. Breeding for color was a better market then it is now, but I also made tons off selling his foals.
My goal is to try and completely revamp this lineage, and turn it into EEE+ rated horses with color, not just one of the other.(I found straws in my freezer from one of his final foals)
Im staring the goal sometime soon, and i'm curious to see how long it will take to bring this super old lineage from 105, to competitive, well producing, modern day HEE horses!
My rules:
My only rule is the horse MUST have Universe Fantasy in its pedigree. My goal is to get a good quality horse in under 5 gens from the original UF. I have 3 straws from his son, so I'll have 3 attempts to reach this goal. :)
