For Futurity foals I would recommend to breed with (single ) Elite parents that are quite high on the very special discipline LBs. Or you take a look at the Fut LB which stallion/mare combos are high atm or won the last years.
So for D Fut, I would look which stallion is among the first 10 in the D-board and I would take a mare that has at least an E in Dressage and has produced D-Elite foals by now.
Then breed the foal on the 1st of a new year, and enter it into the D-Futurity before breeding. If is is a filly ... maybe she would make a good producer for Fut colts in another 2 gameyears If it is a ( hopefully D elite )colt, geld immediately, change the training discipline to D , assign an experienced level 1 Dressage rider to him and then train and show as soon and as much as possible! It would be good, if the rider is able to level up to L2 within a few days, and the L1 gelding has a little boost by the L2 rider So maybe you should micromanage your riders some weeks before the 1st, to get them ready for the futurity foals.
You can show a filly according to the geldings, and sometimes a filly gets high on the Fut LB, too. But usually they have good beginnings but then can not hold the training profits of a gelding. I had a couple filies that won their Futurity, tough!
You have to show those Fut foals in their 3 regular shows in their special discipline each week so they would be able to get as many points as possible. Eventing Fut foals must be shown in each of the 3 disciplines per week to get their points! Even when they suck e.g. in J but do well in D and XC, you have to show them in D + XC + J each week - otherwise they would not get the points at all.
If the month/gameyear has 5 weeks, a good Fut foal should be able to make a maximum of 3(shows)x5(weeks)x4(points)= 60 points to be in the top 5 anyways. Usually the winning foals have around 50 points, depending on their wins and the number of the shows. Edited at April 5, 2020 12:04 PM by Abstract Dunes
