Mulling over Culling
I've been mulling over selective breeding, in this case of pixel equines. These tidbits came from learning as much as I could from real-life, from playing, learning, and mulling for years on a sister game called Draconis Theory, and what I've learned from the HEE community. So I thought I would share some tidbits of my thought process, especially to encourage anyone in need.

Why do we cull in the first place?
Would you rather have stables and pastures all completely full of purchased equines, or with equines that best match your goals and aspirations?

Culling out 'sub-par horses' is a cheaper way to reclaim space then buying new stables or pastures. Each space you reclaim is worth between $3,000-$4,000 Ebs. That space could be home to your next foal or the next horse you want to buy.

It simplifies and de-clutters, at least in part, when you proceed to match up your lovely mares and stallions in preparation for roll-over, or afterwards. This may also save you time looking for the best match.

Optional: Since this is a game, we know that a 'good horse' will eat exactly the same amount of hay or grain as a 'sub-par horse' towards your goals. Thus they have exactly the same cost to feed. Granted, you only have to feed your horses to show or train them.
This may potentially save you how much Ebs you pay your riders, whom you need to train and show your horses.

You can potentially more easily discover new opportunities, whatever form that may be. Perhaps in having space to buy that next 'good horse', perhaps in successfully find the right mare and stallion to breed together, to save yourself some time and stress, to let your hay or grain supply last longer, and perhaps to lower your expense of training and showing your horses. You may decide to save up Ebs to buy even more things.

Other Consequences?: Culling may impact the HEE game market, from selling items to the prices of equines. I may personally choose to change prices of my equines to be higher, in an attempt to better reflect the value of the hard work and efforts of both previous stables, and perhaps someday a bit of my own.

Summary:
Culling thins your herd down to the equines that best match your goals or aspirations. It de-clutters your space and perhaps also simplifies when matching up mares and stallions for your next foals. It saves you Ebs on the space to keep them. For those who train and show their equines, it saves on Ebs to show your equines (feed and riders' pay). Perhaps most importantly, you reclaim the ability to better ultilize whatever opportunities come your way.
Stables might also decide what value they put on all their effort, as it is certainly not worthless.
