Hello all!
Ive seen a huge number of people lately that aren't sure how to match horses and dont know how or why their horse's arent breeding well.
.
Please note that matching and finding a good match does take a pretty good ammount of time
lets start with the info about matching.
.
Horses have to be matched with eachother inorder to produce good foals
You have to level out weaknesses and strengths in order to get a good foal
This does not mean if you dont that it will be a bad foal but the training/strength of your horse will be iffy
.
Training:
Horses that are bred for ratings should be trained in all disciplines if they arent this can make it almost impossible to match the horse for breeding.
As your horse trains it will level up its bars on certain weeks those weeks are:
Example of the bars that im talking about on a horse wk1-2
WK 3 - if your horse goes up on wk 3 then it means it is a very very strong horse - please note most horses do not go up on wk 3
.
WK 4 - one of the most important weeks this tells you about how strong your horse is and sometimes can show their weaknesses and strengths ideally they should go up across all bars on wk 4 but if they dont its no biggie but keep in mind the more bars they have up the better it is.
ideal wk 4 should look like this
.
WK 5 - whatever bars were still down on wk 4 should now go up on wk 5 and they should all be even with eachother if the horse is still down on one this means the horse is very weak in that trait.
photo of a wk 5 training
.
WK 6 - should stay the same as wk 5 but if it goes up thats great!!
.
WK 7 - one of the most important when it comes to WWWs or breeding strong horses the more they go up on wk 7 the stronger they are and you can really start to see the strengths and weaknesses here (id say average that i look for is 2-3 up on wk 7 for good ratings)
average wk 7:
good wk 7:
.
WK 8 - Anything that is down on this wk is the traits they are weak in. If they arent down on this week then just use the wk 7 as a guide.
Other weeks past this still need to be tracked because you can really highlight the weak and strong traits individually but i think you get the idea and this brings us to our next point.
.
PLEASE TRACK YOUR TRAINING
do this by logging on once a week(mondays) and tracking your horse's bars in the manage horse- edit remarks.
training bars are as follows:
movement, intelligence, heart, scope, speed, strength.
if a horse has bars that look like this
you would edit the remarks and write down:
WK 7: 323322
this is because you count the bars that they have on their training gauge
however we dont start tracking at wk 7 we start tracking on either wk 3 or wk 4 its always worth it to check their training gauge on wk 3 just incase.
so for a good wk 4 it should be:
WK 4: 222222
so on and so forth.
.
Now about matching:
If the wk 4 for your mare looks like this:
WK 4: 212212
you need a stallion that has high int. and spd.
.
If the stallion's WK 4 looks like this
WK 4: 222222 its best to look at the wk 7 for matching
.
if the wk 7 looks like any of these then its good to match:
WK 7: 232232
WK 7: 233232
WK 7: 332232
WK 7: 232332
WK 7: 232233
But if the stallion's wk 7 is low in either intelligence or speed then you shouldnt match them together id say even if you have an item its just better to find a new stud or brood
example of not matching:
WK 7: 223323
The farther you train a horse like a wk 15 you can see which weaknesses are worse than others and could benifit with an item
as an example my stallion zombie had this wk 7:
WK 7: 323322
but during his wk 11 you can see which weakness is the worst
WK 11: 444434
so he would be the lowest in speed and could use a speed glass if you breed him to a mare that is high in speed but her speed isnt the strongest one of her traits
.
example of this would be my mare you can see she went up in speed
WK 11: 343344
but...if you look at her WK 14 you can actually see shes not as high in speed as she is in strength and intelligence so if you bred these two together you would need a speed glass to make them perfect.
WK 14: 454445
.
other items:
items can benifit breedings that may be low in multiple categories
medallions benifit 3 categories and they are as follows
.
dressage medallions - MV, INT, STR(movement, intelligence, strength)
Jumping medallions - HRT, SCP, SPD(heart, scope, speed)
Cross country medallions - HRT, STR, SPD(heart, strength, speed)
.
if you have a horse that is low in movement and are breeding to a horse that is low in strength its a good idea to use a dressage medallion
you can look at both horse's weaknesses and see which would benifit both of them the most
.
Svens:
Svens benifit all traits so your foal would be boosted in movement, intelligence, heart, scope, speed, and strength however they do cost 1M and alot of people dont have access to those funds but if you do then i always reccommend using one.
i really hope this helps some questions that people have about matching their horses and which items to use and which studs to go to
in the end its really up to you who you send your horse's to but i would always see if they could go together beforehand
if i missed anything let me know....

I'd like to add that just because a horse doesn't have a week 7, doesn't mean its bad and won't do well :) There are plenty of LB horses that don't have week 7s
