Critique on this piece? Any tips on body prep on Ibispaintx? I'm having a heck of a time with it! Any other criticism is also welcome :)

I LOVE the little hooves <3 The only things I can point out without staring into its soul is the way the tail just kind of stops between the legs, coming out onto the right side. It looks just like a blunt stop of brush strokes. What I recommend is adding the layers, making some pieces longer than others and some not so straight and perfect :) The other thing is a very soft muscle definition. Lots of highlights, but the muscles aren't as defined after the front hooves. I prefer to make smaller shadowing lines to the highlights so there's plenty of dimension, without being too blunt or over blended. Overall, I think its absolutely adorable!

Thank you! The stock was pretty smooth already, so repairing was a little difficult, the I couldn't resist the stock. I will definitely apply this to my next piece!

hi friends, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this piece. I feel like something is.. off.. but I can't quite put my finger on it. The petals feel a bit out of place but it's a love/hate relationship right now. All opinions please!

Personally, I think the overall piece looks great, especially the hair. However, there is something I notice that makes the grounding look off: on the right front hoof of the horse, there is a slim but dark edge. The edge makes it seem as though the horse is supposed to be on the ground, but isn't. If you were to smooth out the botttom part of that hoof to look similar to the hoof behind it, I think just that little change would make the piece pop. Fixed! Edited to add: thank you for the compliment! I'm quite proud of the hair, I feel I've finally found my style! I'm really proud of the "ghost" foal, it was surprisingly tricky to make haha. Overall I'm happy with how it turned out, but like I stated before I feel like it's missing something. I really want to add antlers, I'm slightly obsessed with putting antlers on horses after the piece I did for Herm xD However antlers don't really fit the theme I was given unfortunately Edit 2: Sorry Mods, just now realizing I completely forgot credits. Will add and edit ASAP Edit 3: Credits added Edited at May 19, 2022 06:36 PM by The Mystic One

Hmm... First off, seriously amazing job on this one, it's incredible! A flower could add a little something to the piece. I don't know what kind of vibe you're going for, but I love putting flowers in manes and tails, and the horse could also be holding one in its mouth. Jewelry is also cool, and it goes with almost anything. Things like necklaces, bracelets, and amulets can really spice up a piece. I hope that helps somewhat!

Oh! I just thought of something for that piece: add some mist or fog near the bottom of the rocks/hooves. The rocks at the bottom already appear to have some fog, so why not make it seem as though the fog is beginning to swallow the hooves/surroundings? Edited at May 21, 2022 08:18 PM by Rivendell Steeds
