Horse stock from Luda-stock on Deviantart . I will be making a video of this as well, if this makes no sense. . This has been requested, for some odd reason, so here goes. :D 1. Outline mane I outline the form that I need on a seperate layer to the layer I'll be using for the full mane. I use a color that's fairly different to the base mane color. 2. Fill in the mane. - Duplicat the layer that you drew the braid outline on, and then merge that to the base mane layer. (If that makes sense. 3. Start shading. Now, this is the tricky part. You use a small soft brush in black at like, 20-30 opacity. Make a small brush stroke and erase the section under the one you just colored. 4. Keep going! Just keep swimming :D 5. Add a shadow under the braid This is where you add the rest of the shadow under the braid on the main part of the mane. You can also add the shading and strands. This is where my "expertise" goes out the window and I would suggest using Sunset's hair tutorial. It's very well done. :)

Okay wait... this is a life saver! I always thought you just had a premade brush or something!
