She is still orange under the sooty, Roan, and frame lol

You can kinda see it on the forehead, belly, and rear legs a bit lol

But I love heavy sooty <3

Just a heads up for future reference.

If it doesn't say Dun in the colour information line and it as black all over it like that or heavily on it back, its sooty.

I can name pretty much any marking and colour combo in my sleep lol

It was worth it to me simply to clear up what the genetics were. I've never seen a non orange apricot in game.

Title says what I'm looking for lol, but really I need some constructive critiques about my art. Do. Not. Be. Nice! It won't help anyone, yes you can bring up what I do well and it would actually help. By the way this is for me to improve since I've noticed my pieces are becoming inconsistant as of late in my opinion and I need things to work on as to help with this *stupid* art block I can't seem to get rid of. Love learning plateau's :[
Anyways here are some of my recent works that I love a lot

ugh i hate to do this bacause all your art is near perfection. with the second one, i would have chosen a horse with moe warm colors, or even just changed the color of the mane+tail to make it warmer, less cold and grey. on the first one, the head is a tad too dark. no complaints at all on the third

I love your art! I hate being mean about it but there's really only one thing I'm not a huuuuuuge fan of in SOME of your pieces is the amount of bright, saturated/blinding colors. The prices are pretty but just hard to look at. There's a LOT of highlights too which is totally cool but again kind of blinding and makes it hard to look at the piece. Some of them seem a bit more chaotic in the back and foreground and take away from the horse, like the flares and sunflowers in your second piece.
Thats all though
(i'm sorry i know you wanted mean but it's hard :'p)

I love all of these pieces so much! Your style is lovely.
IMO your horses are a little small in comparison to the background size. Maybe try having a larger horse image?
Also, the images overall seem to be a little dark. The images lose some of their definition when they're so dark, and the tiny details you add might get lost.

I am not artist enough to really be able to properly criticize you, and I honestly adore your style so I wouldn't even if I could.
But if you're feeling a bit of a block, why not go in a different direction? Do bigger pieces- not necessarily HEE pieces, but big scenes just for you (or computer backgrounds, wallpaper, whatever) with more horses, different distances from the frame, other animals, etc. Study other artists (not even just HEE artists, but tons of different styles, like cartoonists, animations).
Sometimes when I find myself in a block (not art, but writing and riding), I find it helpful to go in an opposite direction and learn something entirely new. Not how to do what you already do better, but just something new. Then you can come back to your work with new skills, or a new view at least.

Hi Tasi! You are doing so well, I hate to give you any critique, but as an artist, I know how much it helps even though it hurts the heart sometimes :'D

I agree with what Pony said, and she explained it very well (about the sharp highlights and really satuated colors). It's not easy on the eyes. The lighting looks more artificial instead of softer/natural.

Also, I would try blurring the background in the way back a little more. It would help bring focus to your piece instead of it being really sharp throughout. (Especially on the last two pieces)

Another thing is in the first two pieces, the horse is facing the outside of the image... does that make sense? Like if the horse isn't in the center of the image, I would make the horse flipped in a way that it is facing the part where there is more background showing. That might just be a personal preference I have, so don't pay too much attention to this. Just something for you to think about :)

But you are doing amazing, so I hope this helps you get even better :) I admire the great progress you've made, I really like the body prep and hair! Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more about anything, and I would be happy to.

I admire and stalk your art from the moment I've seen you pop up Tasi! I hope you get through the art block soon!

One thing that I've noticed so far that stood out to me was the... hmm... maybe sharpness is the word I'm looking for? The outline of your horses are sometimes pixelated or extremely sharp, compared to the soft and often blurred body prep style. To me sometimes they just look like they abruptly end as if they were stickers.

This effect is visible to me especially in the last piece, at the ears and top part of the face of the horse; as well as the stretched out front leg at the brighter spot.

Your body preps feel almost like paintings on a canvas, and yet the outline is so sharp as if it was cut from the paper where it was painted on.

I'm not exactly sure what can be done about this effect, as making a blurred outline is not desirable at all. Maybe try to place some stronger lights at the edges where the effect is very outstanding? I would probably try and play with that.

Or another possibility would be maybe give a painted look to the backgrounds as well? Like that the painted horse prep maybe wouldn't be as outstanding.
