There are a lot of breed standards I dont understand in todayÂ’s age.

I would love a GSD. But I do not want those sloped backs.

They were originally bred to have a straight back- it should have stayed that way

It's breed standard nowadays for some strange reason
GSD's originally were bred with straight backs I believe

Yup, the overly squashed faces. A bit squshed like mastiffs are OK for me. :)

I also think dog breeds with squashed faces should be illegal to breed

He isn't showing many signs of slowing down. Still sprints and jumps and has zoomies, goes outside for his big runs twice a day and goes nuts

The only real issue I have is anxiety with my shelter mutt. But he was more than likely severely abused, so that probably has little to nothing to do with his breeding lol.

I've owned one akita and one mutt. Akita lived to 13 and only had arthritis issues at the end of her life. Mutt is 10 and is doing great, knock on wood

Well as I said I went after my nephew's mother with a knife when I was kid. Dad stopped me. With her son let's just say I could have made what happened to him if he died look like an accident. Hitch now hates small humans unless they are actual babies. From toddler to about 16 he runs and hides from them. He rather face my roommate's dogs.

Hi everyone! Love this thread!
I have not had piggies for several years as I was caring for my grandfather (who lived to be 101) and my dad who had dimentia. Caring for them and working took up most of my time for a 10 year span.
I have contemplated getting a couple more recently. I would love nothng more than relaxing, watching TV, and cuddling with a piggie after work. I love the "mook mook" sounds they make.
I have had several over the years, but my favorites were Buttercup and Westly.

WOW! 101, that's so amazing! I am sorry about your Dad, I know Dimentia can be very hard to deal with, so glad to hear they both had you there to help! <3

You should totally look into them some more, if you are ready! :D and yesssss, I loveeeeeee when they groom themselves 😍

Aww! May I ask what breeds Buttercup and Westly was!?

Yeah, my grandfather was an amazing person. He was still mowing his own lawn at 97, and his memory was great. I wish I had inherited that. My dad was great at teaching us what we needed to know to take care of ourselves. I used to be able to do some basic work on my car, until everything became compuerized. I still miss them both greatly, but I am also glad they did not have to live through all we are now. I would never have been able to keep a mask on my dad, and my grandfather would have worried hiself to death.
Buttercup was a tri-colored Abyssinian, and Westly was a red agouti American. Westly lived the longest of any of my pigs, he was 9 when he passed away. Buttercup had the Abyssinian attitude, and Westly was my snuggle bug.

Welcome Camelot. I know what you mean about being glad about loved ones not being around to see how the world is now. And my condolances to you about your grandfather and father.
And if you want to get more piggies now that your life has calmed down go for it. They are a delight to have.

If they stayed the size they are when they are born, I would have at least a dozen. They are just sooo cute when they are babies! Don't get me wrong, they are always cute, but the babies are just so adorable and sweet. I may have to check around and see what is available.

I completely understand that. It's so sad how the world is today and in a way, it's nice they don't have to have more issues on their load, I am sorry they are no longer around <3 My pawpaw is having a hard time himself in old age, and he just had a shoulder replacement last Tuesday and My mom had her shoulder rotator cuff fixed from a mountain biking accident she had back last summer and just had surgery for it 2-3 weeks ago :/ though my grandmother and Dad/Brother is around to help and my aunt, I have been doing more because everyone is so busy with work and other things as well. It's been nice spending more time with my mom tho. ... I think we all will be glad when this mess is all over!

Aw! How sweet!!! I have a sheltie! and an American, their pics are on page one! :D I have thought about somepoint adding a third... I really want a skinny pig, but I might wait until they have had their best lives with me first.

I hope your mom and your grandfather get better soon. Surgery of any kind is not pleasant, but hopefully it helps them after everything is healed.
I had a sheltie years a go. I saw Remi's picture, he looks very sweet. My best friend raised Peruvians, so I had one of them as well. We used to have a lot of fun with them.
