I've gotten attacked for riding a horse "clearly too big for someone your size." I'm 5'3, around 95 lbs and was riding a 16 hand Percheron cross horse -_-
It was my dad's friend's horse that NEVER gets ridden. The dude gave me permission to ride his horse then started "joking" (more like making fun of) my size. "Can you even get up there?" "You're too small." "You need a ladder." I then proceeded to jump up onto the mare's back bareback and just give him a look. I prefer big horses and I've been riding bareback since I can remember. Don't give me that crap xD

Grandma insisted the stirrups too short for her ten year old granddaughter. Grandma then proceeded to measure the stirrups to HER OWN length and changed them .-. (the grandma was easily 5'8") The poor girl's legs were dangling, but Grandma insisted they were correct length. Grandma was then asked to leave and we continued the lesson with the proper stirrups. I actually was attacked the other day for making my horse stop and look at a trash can that they spooked at. (I do this frequently with multiple different objects so I can ride safely on trails with him) This was in MY backyard and MY arena, and this girl that I allow to board her horse, accused me of "abusing my horse's rights" (take note that this lady is a fairly new horse owner and I'm actually attempting, "attempting", to teach her to ride) I literally just laughed and ignored her, even though she rambled on for maybe an hour of how rude I was to the horse when I literally was walking him around. a. trash. can. >.> And she is SO annoying, like cringe worthy annoying. I'm honestly surprised that I've let her stay as long as she has, but I love her horse, so I guess it's worth the pain lmao

The horse community as a whole is ridiculously opinionated. Every yard I had my boy on, there was always somebody who had something nasty to say, complain about or criticise. A shame really, people should just get on with their own business.
