Sage chuckled lightly at the girl's teasing and nodded. "Well, if you don't feel up for it I can carry you," he hummed lightly. Though, he did have a gut feeling that Mari wasn't all too thrilled with him bringing the baby somewhere else, so he studied the girl for a moment before pursing his lips slightly and shaking his head. "You know what, I can show her later," he mused. He sort of settled down next to Mari once she'd lay down again and gotten comfortable, and cuddled up against her, leaving the sleeping child curled up on his chest. "Go ahead and rest," he hummed gently. "We're not going anywhere," he promised. He really didn't mind staying. He'd missed cuddling up to Mari without her belly getting in the way, and he did sort of want to stay with her now that he was comfortable. Besides....he wasn't sure he'd let Anya hold the baby yet anyway, and she was sure to want to.

Mari looked to the boy after a few moments and sighed softly. "We'll manage, I'm sure," she murmured softly before shaking her head. She wanted to be able to do anything herself... she didn't want to be a burden to Sage, not when the baby would be enough trouble for the time being. When he decided to stay, she couldn't help her relief and sudden panic. "I... if you want you can take him," she whispered to the boy, not wanting him to think that she was being too much... she was terrified of that. She wanted the child to be with her right then... she'd waited so long to see his face, she didn't want him to be taken away again. But she knew Sage was proud of their child, and wanted to show him off a little bit. When he settled down next to her, she moved to rest her head on his chest, next to the baby. "Hey babe," she murmured quietly to the baby, reaching out to press a soft kiss to his temple, her arm wrapping around Sages side.

Sage hummed lightly and nodded. "We've done much harder things, I'm sure," he mused before shaking his head. "No... I'd probably be a bit salty about it and not let her hold him if I went down now," he admitted with a soft chuckle. "And I know she'll think he's adorable and want to cuddle him." He shrugged slightly and wrapped himself around her when she curled up into him, a soft smile still on his face. It probably would stay there for quite some time....most likely until the newness of waking up a gazillion times through the night got tiring, probably. "Besides, I haven't gotten quality cuddles from you ever since this little guy ballooned you stomach all up," he chuckled. "I've waited for a long time to be able to snuggle up like this and I'm not going to miss out on it now," he chirped. He was joking a bit, but of course it was all true. "I'll show him off later, when he's awake and happy," he murmured before yawning and sighing. He didn't really mean to fall asleep, but he'd been up for quite some time worrying about Mari within an inch of his life, so he really was just exhausted.

Mari shrugged the tiniest of bits, really too caught up in how sweet the little man was for her own good. He really was just adorable... she couldn't get over it. She just sighed softly at his first comments about him taking him down to the princess. To be honest, although she'd tried, she didn't get on with her too well... she was just scared that she'd say something to Sage if she said no to the baby going down so soon. She had quite the influence over Sage, and Mari knew that... she was just terrified of driving him away now. The child was just so tiny... he was really small, and she felt like even a small draft would blow him away, although that was a rather stupid way to think. The child seemed to grip onto his fathers shirt, as though he was trying not to fall... gosh, they were both so adorable together. He looked like a tiny version of Sage... she couldn't get over it. She looked up to the older boy at his comments, a small smile on her face. "I'm still quite big... I feel empty now," she mused lightly before shaking her head. Her body had some healing to do... the swelling in her stomach needed to go down, and there were a few other things that needed to heal. But it was certainly easier to cuddle up. "I've been trying to cuddle up for Sages," she chuckled softly before closing her eyes, forcing herself to try and sleep.

Sage chuckled lightly at Mari's comments about trying to cuddle up before he fell asleep. Really, he should have known better than to ask to take the babe away so soon...they'd only just gotten him back, and it was sometimes hard to remember that Mari and Anya weren't always exactly the best of friends. He did wish they'd gotten along better...and they'd both tried, but it just hadn't worked out. He couldn't really be upset over it though. They'd both come to terms with that, and at least Mari didn't say he couldn't ever spend time with the other girl. But, Anya could wait. No doubt everyone in the castle had noticed or heard that Mari had gone into labor, so Anya had probably already heard the child had been born. The queen, too, he was sure...and he did hope she liked the child. Because he knew Mari was excited and liked the queen, and if the queen got upset with the baby, there wasn't much he could do about that. She'd been nice to him, the last time he saw her, but he still just didn't trust the woman. How long had it taken her to thank him for saving her life? Years, and she'd briefly mentioned it, while flipping through other papers. He wasn't petty, but something about the woman just....made him nervous. But for now, he was just glad to get some rest. Mari needed to heal up, and he knew he'd be busy taking care of both of them for a while. And he didn't mind that...he loved them both and now he could actually help Mari. Not just hear her cries and fret in the background.

Mari seemed to sleep fairly peacefully. She could hear the tiny baby's small breaths next to her, and felt the slightly bigger wise and fall of Sages chest every time he breathed in and out... it was peaceful, and perfect, and she was just so damn happy about it all. Her hand, as always, had slipped under his shirt the tiniest of bits, though just to hold onto him... like she wa scared of him leaving with the child. She knew he wouldn't, but she was just... frightened. It was the hormones that were corsing though her, but they were making her think of the worse case in any situation. Like with Anya - she was terrified she'd say something to Sage that'd put him off her. Or the baby, or... well, anything. It was all just worst case scenario with her. But she slept all the same. Well, until she'd heard the small squeak which was the baby starting to cry. She seemed to jump awake, and gently picked up the child, cradling him in her arms, desperately trying to get him to stay quiet... but he was hungry. Newborns needed feeding every few hours... which tracked about right. She wasn't sure how the doctor had been feeding him, if it was with a bottle or what... she didn't think she'd exactly have enough nutrition for the small child, so she took it the bottle would be the better option.

Sage slept well too, just relieved that everything had gone alright. Mari was fine, and healing, and the baby was healthy and perfect. And he could actually help out, now, which was definitely nice. He woke up when the baby shifted and started to whine, and sat up with a slight groan when Mari picked up the child. "I'll get a bottle for you," he murmured before getting up and slipping out of the little room made from the curtain that was so common in the ward. He asked the doctor what he'd been feeding the baby, and the doctor pointed to a few bottles he'd been keeping warm. Sage grabbed one and slipped back into the room and handed the bottle to Mari, flopping back down next to her.

Mari sighed softly when the boy woke up... she'd been trying to keep the child quiet enough, but she couldn't exactly get up to get the child some food or anything. When he went to get a bottle the girl gave a small but tired smile to the boy. "Thank you," she whispered when he returned, but frowned a little bit when he flopped down in the bed. He must have been exhausted, worrying about the both of them... she wasn't sure how to feel about it all. She just wanted him to feel better sooner or later. "Go back to sleep," she whispered to him before taking the bottle and offering it to the baby, who seemed to latch on almost immediately. She smiled as his little hands tried to grab ahold of the bottle, his fingers so tiny... soon enough, the child had settled back down again, asleep in her arms. She sighed and went to lay back down, gently resting the child on her chest as she tried to get comfortable.

Sage looked over at the girl when she sadi to go back to sleep, sort of nestling back down into the girl. He was going to go back to sleep, but he found himself watching the baby suckle, unable to look away. He was just so sweet, and perfect, and absolutely adorable. Watching Mari interact with the lad was just so amazing. Once the baby had fallen back asleep, he sort of watched his face for a while before closing his eyes again and drifting back off. He really was tired, though he didn't regret staying up at all. Everything had been very, very worth it. Well, he would have rathered Mari not loose too much blood, but that had been fixed and she was healing up fine, so he supposed he couldn't ask for anything more. They were lucky enough to just have the baby, he supposed.

Mari watched Sage for a few moments, a small smile across her face... he was so good to her. She'd said it so much, but he really was. He'd sat with her for hours, just waiting for her to wake up... he'd always been there for her, and she'd admired him for that. She hoped this baby inherited his good will... she hoped he'd be just like his father. Strong and brave and just so... good. Her hand gently ran along the child's head, and she felt the child shift ever so slightly before he settled down once he'd tired himself out, she closed her eyes, turning her head to face Ssge as she slowly drifted back off to sleep... she'd get just about as much rest as she could now. They wouldn't get much sleep over the next couple of months... and she knew that.
