Post three... Grand Casper Farms "A cowboye-sque farm built from scratch in the 1860's." GCF is homage to the Casper's, a prominent lineage that is currently only dating back to the 19th century. The founder of Grand Casper Farms; Lionel Gage Casper and his wife, Lillian Maria Casper first started up their farm by running cattle. The couple were a dairy and meat farm, and soon grew to sheep, goats, pigs, chicken and eventually, horses. During Lillian's first pregnancy, and as she was handicapped on doing strenuous tasks, she had accumulated her infamous apple and orange orchard as well. ________________ On the brief summary of the farms history and original founders, there'll be a brief explanation on the type of things the farm has to offer... At the start of Lillian's horse program, she dreamed of breeding a variety of horse breeds for a handful of tasks. Successfully, Lillian had managed to breed work horses such as Clydesdales, Shires, Bretons, Suffolk Punches, Belgian Drafts, Halflingers, Ardennes horses, Irish Droughts, Percherons and American Quarter Horses for pulling carts or working around the farm. Later on most work horses were then bred as hunting horses. Hunting wise, Lillian had worked with Missouri Fox Trotters, Mules, Thoroughbreds, Connemaras, Rocky Mountain Horses, Highland Ponies, Dutch Warmbloods and Mustangs; each and every one of them being reliable horses. With each breed and every horse she had the pleasure of working with, she saw their ability to be great animals. For hunting purposes, she would get the horses used to hunting dogs such as Basset Hounds, Bloodhounds the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Wire Fox Terriers, Labrador Retrievers and lastly, German Short-haired Pointers.
