It is about the daily care and lifestyle of the horses and humans based at Bayridge Stables. There is a Competition Team that goes to English Riding Shows, as well as opportunities to work with abused, neglected, and special needs cases.

Personality: Maggie is the heart of BRS - she's the one who keeps things going. She knows everything and anything that goes on within the walls of Bayridge - from the horses, equipment, and her students. She's very approachable, come to her with a problem and she'll do her best to help come up with a solution. She also knows that sometimes all that can heal a problem is a hug and a popsicle or a cup of hot cocoa. She won't turn anyone away. While she's known for her unconditional love, she's also known for being a strict instructor. She runs a tight ship and expects a lot from the people in her barn (she'll only push what she knows she can get out of you). You better clean up after yourself otherwise you'll be assigned more chores.

History: Maggie was a young junior rider (at one point, it's true), and did well in Equitation competitions with her mount Honor. A few years at college (earning a business degree) and riding on the A circuit, she graduated and then was roped into starting Bayridge Stables with Juliana.

She definitely has a thing for the Vet. (and there might definitely be mild teasing from everyone else about this little secret)

Personality: Pragmatic can be a challenge - which makes him all the more loved. He likes things done a certain way, and can/will be a monster if done incorrectly. Which makes everyone scratch their head when he is the best babysitter ever to under 6s. He can go from galloping like a madman on the cross country course to laying in his stall being hand fed his dinner by a young rider. He will put his nose everywhere and anywhere - but especially where it shouldn't be.

History: Pragmatic came from the racetrack as one of the first rehabilitation cases Juliana took on. He was an instant hit on the ground, befriending every barn cat and chicken on the farm - but under saddle he was a different story. Maggie fell in love with him when they were hacking out in the woods, and a loose dog came charging after them - he kept his cool and was able to get them out of a bad situation. (he's also saved her after a few bad distances, and he's always forgiven her with a couple peppermints)

Personality: Honor is considered the grandfather of the farm. He often is pastured out with the young horses - those transitioning as weanlings and those know-it-all yearlings. He keeps the order in the field, and doesn't put up with young horse nonsense, but will comfort those who need it. He's super reliable and is a wonderful camp horse - every year he's covered in hand prints and hearts, ribbons and bows, and body part labels. He stands quietly while little ones fuss over him (falls asleep). Occasionally he'll take a turn around the indoor with a little one on his back, but at 30 he's retired and living his best life.

History: At one time he was on top of the charts for Equitation. He helped Maggie decorate her room with hundreds of first place and champion ribbons. When she aged out and was pursuing the college circuits, he was leased out to another young rider and brought her up the Eq ranks. Eventually he became a well-cared for lesson horse, teaching many others to flourish in the sport. He started battling a career ending hoof crack and then was retired to the field to watch over the young horses. Now he's just enjoying everyday, being spoiled.

Personality: Isabelle is a bubbly and happy young woman. She's typically dancing, singing, skipping, or in some other way exclaiming her exuberance for life. She's always eager to do anything with horses and wants to be first in line. She's not always fussed about mucking stalls, but it beats not being around horses - and she knows riding is the smallest part of working with horses. She's an eager student to anyone willing to teach, and has more questions than can ever be answered. She's a dedicated rider and game for anything.

History: Izzy grew up with horses - her grandparents had a farm down the road, and nobody could keep her out of the pastures. Instead of scolding her, the farm owners let her in and taught her about horses, sparking her passion. From weekly lessons, to Pony Club, and countless weekends spent competing - the horse bug bit her hard. Fortunately her grandparents supported this habit, but instilled within her that she had to work, and work hard, for horses. She never owned a horse, always work-leasing, or begging rides. Working through college, she finally saved up the money to by a retired racehorse. She's had Peregrine almost a full year when she landed an internship at BRS.

Personality: Peregrine is an independent chestnut in a Bay Body. He likes to go fast and he likes to jump big; point him at an 18" cross rail and you can bet he'll jump the standards, and somehow destroy the tiny obstacle. He's known to perform 'celebratory' bucks after each jump. Somehow he has won the affection and devotion of one crazy girl - and he repays her with being a giant snugglebutt (but wouldn't dare do that for anyone else). He likes to take on the challenging course of the Jumpers and has found a liking in the cross country field. He could definitely do without the Hunters (boring) and Dressage is waste of time (why prance when you could pounce). Luckily he suffers through whatever scheme's his owner puts him through and has actually become a better jumper with some flatwork exercises (gasp!). He's very much the arsehole of the stable - which just endears him more to Izzy.

History: Off the track at a young age due to being more focused on picking fights than winning races. He managed to sheer off his left front heel in one race when he was bantering with another colt. His owners, tired of his poor performances and ill-temper, were more than willing to sell him to a young college kid. Once in Isabelle's care, he was rehabbed and slowly brought back to work - being gelded helped tremendously after six months. For the first year, their time was spent doing ground work, from hand grazing to round pen, and all the grooming. Their bond blossomed and once they could start riding (and she found his passion for flying) they have been an unstoppable pair.

Personality: A bit on the arrogant side - Grey likes things done right, or situations to go his way. He doesn't like it when people negatively affect his life - having to clean up someone else's mess just to get on with his own life. He's more reactionary than proactive about things. Cross Country is his element - he's quick to find an answer to the questions asked; able to do fast calculations in mid air. He loves a good challenge, but is typically not a team player.

History: Greyson grew up riding at a young age (6) with the local Pony Club. He found a passion with tackling Cross Country courses and Eventing. He also enjoys the thrill of Foxhunting and racing. As a teen he worked and rode at a barn where the trainer was harsh and demanded greatly from his students and horses. Not knowing a different way - Grey thought the rough treatment and heavy workload was completely normal. He was a harsh but effective rider - not going out of his way to abuse a horse, but not accepting "no". Wanting to pursue being a Horse Trainer - as a 17 year old, he imported his first horse (after having a couple years of training and riding for clients) to try his hand at horse sales. Faith was a large reason why Greyson refocused his horsemanship methods - when another local trainer caught him being rough with the young filly and gave him a taking to (and a new technique that was non-violent - achieving better success than previous in a shorter time frame). Grey went to University for an equine science degree (and to learn a bit about business) - and later was able to connect with trainers and teachers who greatly influenced him to listen to the horse, and work differently. From there he was able to achieve great heights with Eventing and his riding.

Personality: Glee is young and hot stuff. She's fast and opinionated. At first, Glee and Greyson butted heads - it took a few ugly rides to finally settle into a cohesive rhythm. She lives up to the word Spicy! Unfortunately because of her fiery personality - she's a prime candidate for ulcers. There's time where she won't eat because she's too busy worrying about what's going on. She enjoys going out in the pasture but after a couple hours will be found fence walking demanding to be brought back in. Her happiest place is when she's in work. Having a job and a purpose gives her focus. The only time she's too exhausted to care much is after a hard cross country school or a horse trial. Glee is bold, and a bit as reckless as her rider can be when faced with a tough problem - but she's fearless and won't say no. She has just as much grit and determination as he does.

History: Jubilee is the product of thoughtful breeding with proven 5* sire and a dam who scored well in eventing until an injury took her out of competition at fourteen and produced several nice young event horses. Unfortunately Glee just came out a bit spicier than the others. She was a handful at just a couple hours old and from there on was a headcase. She had tons of talent and potential - jumping anything in sight even as a foal, but the behavior became destructive. When she was finally backed, she tossed just about everyone on the property. The grooms all thought she was a nightmare and her owners were tired of paying medical bills for their trainers. Greyson found her at her second sale barn where it was rumored that she was becoming a menace to all. It wasn't the unicorns and rainbows moment between the two on the first, second, or fifth ride - but Grey was persistent (bullheaded stubborn more like) but once it was found that she just needed a job and was talented on the cross country field - they became partners.

Personality: Faith is the loving and slightly maternal bay mare who will try anything. She loves to be around people and other horses. Her athleticism has made it so she can exceed in the eventing sport - she's capable of tackling the tremendous cross country obstacles with the ground eating stride to make it seem effortless; powerful hindquarters to work through the tough lateral and collection movements required in dressage; while she has the scope and strength to launch over the vast spreads in show jumping, the sharp turns and small space give her a tough time trying to maneuver her body through.

History: Faith was the perfect match for the younger hot-head Greyson. She didn't fight his every decision and was a cooperative partner through his earlier forays into training. After he learned to control his harsh judgments and refocused his training ideals to work with his mounts in a productive and positive way - all the opportunities opened for the pair. Faith was a young import horse, a reckless move on Grey's part as she was an untested three year old. He backed her as a four year old, then went to University for three years (in which time Faith was bred and raised a foal). He took the bay mare as a project for his working student years, in the time they progressed through the lower eventing ranks before getting an assistant training gig with an Olympic event rider where they started their upper level career.

History: Julianna grew up with her dad training racehorses and her mom managing a lesson barn; they lived on a tiny farm in Kentucky where she had two ponies. She was riding before she could walk - living and breathing horses. Pony Club was her gateway to learning horsemanship, from guest lectures and individual pony care, to trying various new disciplines and team challenges - she was hooked. Eventing had all the thrills and finesse. Through high school, Julianna pursued her dreams of competing at the Olympics - riding with top eventing professionals as a working student and groom. After a rotational fall took the life of her beloved partner, and left her recovering for almost a year - Julianna had to step away from the horse world. During that time she reconnected with her lifelong friend, Maggie - who helped her get back into the business. Together they formed the foundation for Bayridge Stables.

Personality: faye has a bubbly character, and can be whimsical sometimes, as she believes in faeries and other spiritual things. She is a very happy person to be around, and loves being with horses and people. She did have a difficult upbringing, so she gets very insecure sometimes and hates it when people belittle or betray her. She enjoys taking long walks on her own or with friends, and loves being in nature. Another of her hobbies is sewing, and she often makes her own silks and clothes for horse riding.

Background:

faye does not have a strong relationship with her family. She left home to go live with a friend at 16 and hasnt seen them since. Her father was rough with her, and they both had a bad criminal record. She prefers to stay dissconnected from them, and this hurts her, but she knows her life is better without them. Her Mum was from England, and he Dad was from Ireland, so she has a british accent that she picked up from them.

Personality: Felix is a playful horse, who love a good cuddle. He can be overly excited sometimes, and when provoked can be very naughty. He loves his owner and being around children and other animals. In the arena he is a strong horse, speeding round corners and spooking easily at things.

History: He was bought from a breeding farm at the age of 7, as they said he would never be a good showhorse. But faye proved them wrong, gradually training him up and eventually starting to compete in showjumping events with him. since then he has been living with Faye at a farm, but they recently moved to these new stables.

Strengths: jumping high, clearing rounds in good time, brave.

weaknesses: Spooky, cuts corners and once irritated can become moody.

Most people can clearly state that Saeya is hardworking, often working herself to a breaking point if she's truly determined. That being said, she also knows when to take a break, laughing, and making rather sarcastic jokes around friends. And time with horses is always well spent, so if not seen around the barn, she's probably in the tack room, fixing a saddle, or curled up, reading a book.

Background:

Saeya was born to the owners of a small riding stable near Bayridge Stables. Growing up, she started riding at the tender age of two years old and riding competitively at six. At eight, she starting jumping. After her family's stables closed down when she was 16, she started riding at Bayridge, leasing out Prada a year later from the stables, and buying her after two years. And that is where Saeya's story begins.

With such an elegant conformation, one might end up wondering if Arabella has some sort of PRE blood in her, which she does not, but it still comes to mind, for the barest touch of Mangalarga blood runs through her veins. Keeping the inwardly curled ears of her Marwari sire, Ara retains a refined frame, standing at 17.5 hands. Her color, although looking to be the color of a starless night sky at a distance, is instead a nearly black color, with darker dapples gathering around her withers and hindquarters. She has two white half cannons on her back legs, and a blaze that runs down her face, breaking off to end in a snip. Her mane is kept even and pulled, easy to style into braids for competitions.

Personality:

Prada is a relatively sweet and caring mare, someone who would save you over a jump. That being said, the mare isn't a horse for beginners, being high-strung and slightly testy with new riders. Although, with young children, Prada can become one of the sweetest horses you'd ever meet, trickling. Of the idea of competitions, like her predecessors, she loves them and tends to just want to start, to win. She also loves to gallop. So she's just a good girl.

History:

Born to an Oldenburg mare, and a Marwari stallion of the name of Anik, Prada was born at a... not so great horse breeding facility. At the tender age of two years old, Prada was saved from that dreadful place by Bayridge and was taught to accept human handling and start being saddle broken. That being said, she was relatively sweet and seemed to show her true personality. And a few years later Saeya started riding the mare, and the rest is history.

Standing at an impressive 17.1 hands, this stallion bears a similar resemblance to his dam. Perseus's coat is a glossy seal bay in hue, with lighter bay hints nearer to his hindquarter and stomach. From a distance, he seems polished, though only from a distance. Upon closer inspection, it's rather obvious that his life has been far from perfect. Scars litter his bodice, mostly clustering around his hindquarters, and withers, the most prominent one a white raised scar sat 'pon his croup. Though the stallion has filled out during the two months he has been at Bayridge, Perseus's ribs are prominent, and he's scarily skinny. That being said, the male is doing well and has started to pack on a bit of weight. A set of gentle eyes are tinted dark brown, with long lashes and rest along the sides of his face, a diamond at the point of his forehead. A long mane and forelock hang down to nearly the stallion's elbow, which he isn't allowing to be trimmed, only brushed. Each hoof is a various shade of dark earth.

Perseus appears to stand as cold and unmoving as a rock. He flinches at sudden movements, and if he sees his haynet being taken away, he crowns. That being said, it's fairly obvious that he's doing slightly better than he was two months ago, as he's allowed bits of human touch, to be groomed, and is standing nearer to the rest of the horses when he's turned out.

History:

Born to a liver chestnut mare, and a blood bay stallion, Perseus spent the first year and a half of his life in a green pasture with his dam, bounding around and playing with other foals of his year. By the time the young colt turned two, Perseus started his short-lived racing career. A seemingly kind jockey started him off, especially with his being sold to a well-established racing barn. By the age of three, he was rising to the top, though the jockey he had started with left the stables to start his stable. Yet, once he started losing, that's when the problems started. Whip marks stung his sides, and sometimes food was taken away for hours or days. When the day came that he had no energy left, he was finally left for a few weeks in a dark stable, without food, and barely enough water. Luckily for him, his first jockey had been thinking of him, and visited the stable, finding him, and alerting animal control. Since Bayridge seemed to be only a few hours away, and the jockey couldn't take Perseus in, Maggie took him in, along with a few other horses, that hadn't had that same treatment, yet needed some better conditioning, who is now gone to wonderful forever homes. Perseus has stayed, and Saeya is working with him to allow a bit of touch, her first rehab case Maggie has allowed.
