she sighed and watched Corona trot up to her,already an hour and she was up "Epona!"hail neighed as her friend came over"you had a foal!"epona bounced up and down "what's its name! Is it a boy or a girl?!"she was the light of the party "her name is corona"hail snuffled and watched as corona tripped "silly girl"

what are they doing! Corona bounced around and tripped over her feet aggravated with the ground she sneezed and tripped"mommy!ground is evil!"corona walked around dizzy and settled next to her mother"who is this strange person"epona hid a snort and looked at her "hey little one"I'm not little!

"Stormfire it's a new addition to the herd!"she bounced up And down the stars in her eyes shimmered and gleamed"it's so cute"epona pranced and nipped corona on the rump sending her running"so cute!"she turned and looked at stormfire does he want a family? He is always so alone "stormfire you should go swim in the pond,your shoulder will feel better"

He watched the foal as she stumbled around, then looked away, staring into the distance. "Let's hope there's enough food. A weaning mare needs more than other horses. From now on, she eats first out of the Prairie herd members." Corona had come too close for comfort, and he sidestepped quickly. I really don't like foals. I don't want to hurt her, but if she gets too close I might freak. Flashbacks of his own childhood burst into his head, giving him a nasty headache. He grit his teeth and shook his head, trying to keep them away. After a moment, they subsided, but he was tense again. He shifted his weight, itching for a fight again. It's the only way I can feel something...maybe if I don't say anything to Epona about swimming, she won't try and make me do it. He snorted and then flinched when he saw something coming towards him. He realized it was only a leaf and cursed in his head. He hoped the mares hadn't seen that.

"you fight as a way to relieve pain" epona stood there and watched him with a watchful eye"your not the only one itching to fight "she bent her head and grasped dry strands of grass and watched corona suckle on hail"it would be nice to have a family of my own someday"she snorted and reared up and felt a sharp pain in her leg,she neighed and saw the snake beside her,she tripped backwards and licked her leg and stared at the snake"it's just a rat snake thankfully "epona realizes it was close to the foal "CORONA MOVE" epona threw herself between the snake and foal and danced backwards as it bit again ,her eyes went glazed in pain and she danced back and forth

"Oh nothing, just watching you limp like a dying cow." Arion snapped right back at Stormfire. He looked at Corona and stepped backwards, eyeing the filly disgustedly. "Ugh. Why do those things have to be so... active?" He spotted Stormfire flinch away from a leaf. Fortunately for him, Arion decided to keep quiet. Although, Arion was cackling like a mad scientist in his mind.

As soon as he saw the snake, he lunged. He stepped on the snake's tail, turning it away from the foal and Epona. The snake turned and sunk its teeth into his front leg, and he reared up, flicking his leg to throw the snake into the rock. He landed and spun around, stomping the snake into the ground again and again as the blood flowed down his leg. Finally, something to fight! He felt alive. As he calmed down, he stopped stomping on the snake. He waited for the dust to settle before nudging it with a front foot. "Dead," he declared with a snort. Then his head jerked up and he whipped his head around to give Arion a death glare. "Did you just say I'm limping around like a dying cow?!"

"thank you!"she trotted over and set her head on him shaken and scared "thank you..." she turned and trotted after corona and told her to go sleep with her mother because she was up to late,she turned and gave a weary glance at the ground and reluctantly laid down to rest"your a life saver stormfire"and with that she laid her head down and fell asleep

He tensed when she touched him, trying not to freak out. A shiver ran up his spine, and he wondered why she was being so nice to him. I only killed a snake. And it wasn't even dangerous. Besides, I should have noticed the damn snake BEFORE it bit her. Ugh. Why am I second in command again? I'm kinda useless. He noticed she had fallen asleep, so he walked back under the rock, careful not to wake her. She's so carefree and happy. I hope I can keep it that way. I know I'll probably never be happy, but I can try to keep them happy. He glanced over at Arion and glared again. "You're lucky I can't hurt you," he muttered. He stood there, half dozing for a couple of hours.

"I don't know how I feel" epona had gotten up being unable to sleep and was talking to hail"he is to busy with protecting the herd" hail watched stormfire "he's so brave I was terrified and that snake was fast"epona sighed and stared at him,as they continued talking about stormfire corona snuck up

why are they talking about another horse"mommy why are you talking with auntie about another horse"corona pawed the ground and watched stormfire"did he do something bad!"corona glared at him and epona sighed"no nothing like that to back to sleep" coron slinked off and laid down angry at being ignored

"Hrm, yes. A dying cow. Although, maybe it should be a dying, deaf cow." Arion said, "You try to hide it, but it's as obvious as a solar eclipse." He heard Epona, and he gave an amused snort. Excuse me, who rescued several horses from the wildfire two years ago, hm? That's right! Me! And yet nobody even thanks me.

Dusty approached Hail, who had a filly next to her. "Ah! She's so cute! What's her name, Hail?" She said. Finally! New life for the Prairie Herd! Dusty lowered her head and inspected the filly. Mm, looks healthy. That's good.

He watched the herd for a while until his gaze settled on Epona, Hail, and the foal. What was her name? Corona? Whatever... He thought about what Epona had said earlier about wanting to start a family and a pang shot through him. What was that, he wondered. Then he shook it off, ignoring the emotional pain like had had his entire life. I hope she finds a stallion who deserves someone a good as her. I hope she gets a chance to fulfill the dream of having a family. I hope her family has a nice valley to grow up in. He wondered if she had a special someone. It was hard - she was so nice to everyone! He sighed and lay down, his leg and shoulder burning now that his anger had worn off. He watched them in case of danger, which he expected to pop up at any moment. He turned his head to Arion when he spoke back to him, his anger flaring up again. "Well, at least if I'm deaf I don't have to listen to your ugly voice," he growled at him
