"Sparrow! Don't go far!" his mother called as the little colt cantered after a rabbit as it ran toward the beach "I won't mom!" he called back as he kicked up his heels. The rabbit kept dashing closer and closer to the beach and eventually lost the annoying little colt after making a quick move that kicked sand into his face "Bleh!" he spat as he opened his mouth his tongue hanging out of his mouth as he shook his head shaking the sand off finding a lone pool of water to drink from to clean up his mouth before he went to the water to wash the sand off his face, he in until the water was up to his chest before ducking his head under opening his eyes to find a pair of blue eyes staring back at him, his own brown ones widened and his head shot up out of the water the owner of those blue eyes popping up after him her damp wavy forelock covering one of her blue eyes as she giggled "Haha!" she giggled "I scared you didn't I?!" she said "No!" he retorted noticing the black and orange patterning on the filly's face his brows narrowing at her as he tilted his head curiously the filly ducking under the water though she stayed close enough to the surface to where he could see her and what he saw made his eyes widen to the size of two fresh apples as he saw more of the black and orange calico-like patterning on her... her tail! She had a tail! not like his though... she- she was a fish! or at least a half fish... he thought.

The filly giggled and popped up beside him "So whats you're name!?" she asked "Y-you're a fish!" sparrow exclaimed the filly narrowing her eyes at him "No! i'm a Hippocampus!" she corrected curling her tail away and then toward him again splashing him the colt wincing and shaking off slightly after she splashed him "A hippo what...?" he asked "A hippocampus" The filly giggled "My name is Adinia!" she squeaked "What about you? what's yours?" she asked "S-Sparrow... m-my name is Sparrow." he stuttered as he watched her.

From that day (once he got used to her apperance) the two of them would play together in the shallows of the ocean, though his mother and the rest of the herd simply thought that the lonely colt was playing with an imaginary playmate that had come from his desire for another foal to play with and his love for the beach and ocean... that is until bachelor stallions invaded their land forcing him and his herd to leave... neither of them getting to say goodbye to one another before the herd stallion drove his herd away to protect them. After that Adina came to the surface every day to look for her friend only... she never saw him again.

Adina flicked her tail as she bent her head grabbing up some kelp that washed ashore munching it, the salty taste relaxing her as the waves rolled over her hooves and ankles. As she finished she looked up to the starry sky above her head her nostrils flaring as she closed her eyes breathing in and bathing in the scent of the salty sea lapping at her hooves and ankles her chest heaving as she took in a large gulp of fresh air grateful that she could actually breathe it in this form... without the gills on her neck forcing her to breathe underwater and only underwater. After a few breaths she turned and began wade deeper into the water chuckling to herself as faded memories from her mind appeared before her "Oh Sparrow..." she said softly turning and looking back toward the beach with a small sigh "Wherever you are... I hope you're not lonesome anymore..." she said softly as she turned away from the beach and continued her way into the water her mane and coat beginning to to transition from dappled to patched with bright orange and black overlapping patches as she went in deeper the lower half of her body beginning to change into the smooth tail and fins of a koi fish, the transition was as natural and as painless as breathing and as she transformed the water simply obliged and pulled her in deeper as if it were trying to help pull her back home, even as she transitioned from one form to another diving underneath the water.

By the morning she was at the surface again just as shed been the night before standing in the shallows and eating some kelp that washed ashore as the sunlight beat down on her making her dappled grey coat shimmer as she ate the salty treat enjoying the feeling of the water flowing up to her hooves and around her ankles a content sigh leaving her as she enjoyed the cool morning sea air.

Adina raised her head and turned her ears pricking forward toward the vally that laid beside the beach scanning the area as she warily backed into the water her heart pounding so loudly she could hear it even over the roaring waves "Whose there?!" she called her head flicking over to a cluster of trees. She relaxed a little when she saw it was only a surface horse... at least it wasn't a preditor. Then again... this might be worse. The black pinto stallion trotted out onto the beach and greeted her "Hey there beautiful..." he said a light purr to his voice as he moved closer Adina heading back into the water more her ears going back in a shy manor "Hi..." she murmured softly as the stallion entered the water "Don't be shy, come and graze with me." he said giving her his best charming smile "I'd prefer not..." She replied "I think you're mistaken..." he replied "That wasn't a request." he told her walking with more assertiveness and heading behind her nipping at her rump to get her out of the water "Stop!" she snapped lightly hoping the stallion would simply back off but he was persistant and eventually he got her out of the water... away from the place she felt the safest and he kept pushing her the grass brushing against her legs in a way that made her skin crawl... she'd never stepped out of the ocean let alone onto the grass, anyone could see she was uncomfortable, anyone but this stallion who kept pushing her even as she demanded that he stop, he'd simply nip at her rump or her flank to keep her moving.

"Stop!" she demanded kicking up her back legs hitting him square in the chest "I don't think so!" he retorted with a snort ignroing her protests and seeming unphased by them. Adina looked around searching for any kind of help as she continued to try and fight her way out from this stallions grasp... even when she did manage to get away for a brief few moments she didn't get far, she tried to get to the ocean but he blocked her path and backed her even further away "Stop!" she demanded "I'm not interested in grazing with you!" she snapped her ears going back before she rose on her back legs getting about half way off the ground before the stallion rose on his own back hooves towering over her as his hooves struck the air around her, Adina stood in horror watching him as he came back down as he began nipping at her once more driving her away from the ocean "You're too precious to lose lovely one, you are coming with me." he hissed nipping at her.

When Adina noticed the new stallion she was both nervous and relieved when he spoke, was he trying to steal her away from this stallion so he would have her? Or was he trying to help her? She wondered as she glanced toward the ocean longing for its safety as the black and white stallion snorted and trotted assertively between them "Pardon me friend but whom are you to tell me what to do?" He demanded a closer look at the stallion showed that he was very battered and a little older suggesting he'd either been kicked out of his herd or he was too injuried to defend it anymore and that lone mares were the only opportunity he had to have a herd again. He snorted at this youngster getting in his way "She's my mare." He told him flicking his tail and striking the ground in an effort to show his strength his ears pinned back in warning to the younger stallion "Go find yourself another mare my friend..." He said as he turned and nipped at Adina again "Go on" he said sternly the young mare looking nervously between the two stallions seeing both of their irritation and annoyance toward one another growing.

"Used to." he replied with a smirk flicking his tail "Not anymore" he told him usering the mare off even more before he recieved his nip to the rump and whirled around on the new stud his ears back "Because I had her first..." he snorted "You want a mare? Find your own... cause this one is mine." he said before rising on his back legs striking the air in a display of strength before he came back down "Your herd may have been here before me, but i'm here now." he snorted biting the stallions flank rather hard.

Adina winced as the sound of her captors teeth clapping together on the stallions flank but she couldn't will herself to move whilst the stallions were distracted, there was something about this new stud that felt familiar... she just, she couldn't place it, so she stood there frozen, waiting, watching and trying to will herself to follow the instincts telling her... begging her to run back to the ocean where she knew she'd be safe... where neither stallion could follow her as the black and white stud made a large circle around him as to avoid getting kicked "I may be old son, but i'm not backing down without a fight." he snorted "My age is the very reason YOU should back off, you're not strong enough to face a young inexperienced stallion, let alone an older, wiser one with much more experience with fighitng and herd skills that you have." he said his voice harsh and challenging, he was enjoying this. "Think about it... this one fight could ruin you and prevent you from ever finding a herd of your own... why risk it for one little mare when there are plenty of others with older stallion then I you might actually stand a chance against." he smirked "Let me take her... you can have the land if you let me have the mare." he said.
