Kate was finishing up cleaning stalls in the barn when she heard a thud down the aisle. A quick glance around the stall proved that it was clean so Kate ventures out to explore. She wandered along the aisle, stopping to stroke the muzzles of curious horses as she walked in the direction of the noise she had heard. As she approached the exit of the stable, Kate felt the cool night air blow gently upon her face. The night sky was ablaze with stars and not a cloud covered the twinkling canvas of the night sky. Peering out into the silky darkness, Kate searches for the noise she had heard. Glancing back to the stable to make sure everything was in order, she ventured into the night. In comparison to the restless shuffling and snorting in the stable, the paddock had an almost eerie serenity to it. Hearing the noise from before again, Kate started across the small paddock. To her right she heard the lulling gurgling of the creek as it trickled past the stable. Directly ahead of her the pasture met the meadow which eventually collided with the woods. However the sounds she heard were coming from neither the meadow or the creek. Turning to the left Kate could make out a faint shape in the distance. Although the darkness obscured her vision, Kate almost thought she saw a person and a horse...

That's fine. Less characters to manage for me. :) I have a boy that I can bring in though that was briefly in the previous role if you ever need a foil for your other girls.

Actually I have really interesting character that I have been writing into my Bryce stories as a side character. He is a bit different from normal roles, but I think he may be interesting. He served in the military and was in a POW camp before being rescued and brought to the U.S. He is from Ireland and is having a rough time with PTSD from service. Does that intrigue you?

The cool night air felt good on Eli’s face. He hadn’t taken a walk like this in ages. Worrying about Scott took up too much time. He gave a small, thoughtful frown. Working here was going to be interesting now with Katrina around but luckily he had Kate. His frown turned to a little smile as he thought of her. She definitely was his sunshine when clouds shrouded his happiness. The mare beside him nudged his lanky figure. He had stopped walking and she wanted to go. “Ey watch it mare.” Eli chuckled. Vaek shook her head in response. “We’re not going any faster than a walk, you hear me?” Eli said quietly. “You were a bad girl today.” Vaek was not listening. She yanked Eli forward and started cantering. “Gah! Vaek stop!” Eli commanded as the lead rope was wrenched from his hands. The silly mare scampered away with a whinny before stopping a few feet away. The blonde huffed in annoyance and leaned to grab the lead but Vaek jumped away again. “Darn it you stupid mare! Get your butt over here!” Vaek started at a breakneck sprint towards the barn but slowed when she approached a familiar face.

Sure, Vell! Whoever you want in.)) When he mumbled like a helpless child, her heart was torn in two. For probably the millionth time ever. Over and over again, this cycle occured. She wondered if something about him had changed her, weakened her, or if it was the repetitive cycle that had worn her down. People always said she'd have to settle down one day and stop picking up and moving so often, yet she still felt that instinct to desert the things closest to her, to abandon what made her feel. She felt so small, yet so powerful in that moment. Scott was so much bigger than her, yet she was the one holding him in her arms. It felt peculiar, in fact, but she couldn't let him go. He needed her, and she knew it. "I'm right here," she whispered as she held him tight, her eyes still spilling with silent tears. She couldn't mask the pain she felt for causing him so much pain. She chose that phrase carefully, not wanting to make any promises she couldn't keep. Tonight she was here, tomorrow she could be gone. She didn't plan on it, but it wasn't like she could see her future, either. What if he woke up in the morning and decided that this was a mistake? She was a mistake? She couldn't risk being vulnerable, that was too much. After a short while, she felt the incessant buzzing of her cell phone, which triggered more fear than anything else. Who had her new number? Was it Spencer? Someone more malicious? The repetitive buzzing terrified her to no end, finally causing her to break their embrace. She let her hand trace down his forearm, though, intertwining her hand with his as her warm eyes met his. The emotion was still there, the tears remaining. The touch was a promise--she wouldn't let go until he could handle being on his own again. Putting the phone to her ear with her free hand, she said, "hello?" But was met with a familiar voice, which caused a visible pain to appear on her face. She hadn't heard her native language in so long, let alone by someone so dear to her. "Tia?" She asked fearfully, her lip quivering. Her voice was still raw from holding back her own sobs. "Que pasa?"

Scott basically clung to Katrina like a toddler clings to their mother. He wanted to stay in this moment forever. Well, maybe not forever. Maybe with more positive emotions. Oh God, please don't let her leave…. Please… It’s been too long, I know, but please….. I beg you… Scott cried mentally praying. I… I can’t lose her again… That thought coursed through Scott’s brain a million times over and his mind filled with worry. What would happen if she left him again? What would he do? If alcohol didn’t fix the first go ‘round, what would he do if there was a second? There were two ways that it would probably be handled. Either he would just completely lose sight of any sort of happiness and be completely devoid of emotion or unspeakable things would happen. Scott didn’t want to think of the unspeakable. He’s had those thoughts before and didn’t want that to happen again. Ever. Scott’s thoughts were interrupted when he heard the buzzing of a phone. At first he thought it was his, probably Adria panicking about something stupid (especially at this hour), but realized it wasn’t when Katrina broke their embrace, well, more like Katrina keeping Scott from completely falling to his knees. He almost sat down but that action left when he felt Katrina’s smaller hand intertwine with his. Scott’s face flushed and grew hot. He had been reduced down to a bewildered little boy by one, small action. Scott’s bewilderment turned to a bit of worry when Katrina’s expression changed. He furrowed his brows when she started speaking. Who was she talking to? (OH MY WORD IM CRYING. Why you do this to meeeeeeeee Dx) Edited at April 2, 2020 11:13 AM by Freiheit Farms

LOL BECAUSE WE NEED DIEGO IN HERE & THERE'S ONLY ONE GOOD WAY TO DO IT.)) "Oh my god," she whispered, recieving a loud, her-family-like, "Kamila! No comprendo tu ingles!" "Lo siento," she muttered, her eyes meeting Scott's. His face was really flushed, and she wondered if it was the alcohol or the emotion of all of this that was getting to him. The conversation with her auntie went on for several more minutes of fluid, very emotion-filled Spanish, and Katrina giving awkward, 'I'm sorry,' smiles towards Scott, who was looking at her with a very concerned expression. Finally she hung up, and Katrina pinched the bridge of her nose with her hand, not even sure how to approach this. Her family always had the worst possible timing. "Scott, I--I need to go to Spain. My family--something very bad happened. I--can't explain it right now." This. This was why she couldn't promise him anything, promise she'd stay. Fate had a way of pranking her, over and over again. She'd only just gotten to her new job, gotten to Scott again, and now she had to leave for god only knows how long. She looked at him with a gentle expression, even though she was absolutely freaking out. Her family hadn't talked to her in almost ten years, and they'd tracked her down. That was nearly an impossible feat in itself. She couldn't even begin to imagine how her brother would cope with this either. This was a gigantic mess. "I have to go to California first and get my brother. I'm going to get on the next available flight out, I'll have Rhynn drive me to the airport..." Her thoughtful rambling had begun, more to relax her than inform him. She didn't know how to leave him, but he was far too drunk to be asked to go with her. He wouldn't be able to make a clear decision and she knew it wasn't even right to ask him to come. How would she even do that? "I...need to go wake up Rhynn." Gently pulling her hand from his, she kind of jumbled over the words, "goodnight, Scott," her figure very paled as if she'd seen a ghost. This night had gone from chaos to even worse, even more dire chaos in seconds. Just when she thought she had it all together, she'd blown it again.
