Madrigal listened to Sage's stories and descriptions of the dragons, her fingers brushing over the dragon pendent she had recently stolen and now wore around her neck. She marvelled at his incisors, her eyes gleaming at the sight. "Those are so cool," she admitted with a chuckle, gesturing to her own teeth. "Do you know of any other traits you've inherited?" She asked, setting down her pack where Sage deemed was a good spot to stop for dinner. She looked around and spotted some edible vegitation. Along with a few pieces of the cured meat, they could have a decent sized dinner for their hike tomorrow. She grabbed her water skin and took a few sips, and then looked around to see if she could see or hear a stream to fill it up with. "I don't imagine you've been this far," she said hesitatnly, her voice rising into a question at the end.

Sage cocked his head slightly and hummed. "I always tend to keep them hidden," he admitted with a sheepish chuckle. "showing fangs in the middle of a town wouldn't help me steal things discreetly." He thought for a moment before shrugging. "I have some heightened senses...and my nails are strong enough to use as claws if I need to, but other than that I've never really thought about it." He had a strangely strong bite too, but he decided to leave that out for now ..it was for hunting. Killing. And the wasn't the light topic they were on. He hummed and shook his head in response to her question. "Nope," he chirped happily. "The adventures started!" He sat down and reached for a bush, grabbing some berries and popping them in his mouth with a happy hum.

"Maybe not, but maybe they'll be useful to you now..." Madrigal trailed off and then grinned. "We need to make you big and strong, then the fangs will look way more menacing," she smirked as she imagined at the faces of future foes running at the sight of an over-muscled dude with sharp teeth. The comedy. "Anyways, we need to eat dinner. Should we eat the dried stuff, or try hunt?"

Sage shrugged and then snorted in amusement at Madrigal's joke. "Yeah, and then I can throw you over my shoulder and wade through rivers and mud and stuff while you perch on my shoulders like a bird and don't get wet or dirty," he teasingly accused the girl of using him if he got that strong. Really, he wouldn't care of that happened, but they both knew he was never going to bulk up all that much. He was muscular enough now ...and good food would help, but he'd never be huge. He hummed and cocked his head, before shrugging. "I suppose hunting would be good, if we can...and I'd like to try these out," he hummed, pointing to his fangs. "Dad never let me use them, and they could be helpful."

Madrigal grinned back at Sage, "I'll perch all day, and you can do all the work carrying me from A to B. That sounds like a great plan." She dropped a few berries into her mouth and chewed. The burst of flavour made the hair raise on her skin. She slid her eyes to glance at Sage and nodded. "That would be so awesome. I can't believe you've never used them before. They're cooler than a fozen river, imagine making a killig blow with them..." She trailed off, her mind forming a video reel of cool imagines.

Sage chuckled lightly and grinned over at the girl. "Maybe you're part bird and we just don't know it," he teased her lightly before cocking his head and shrugging. "I guess we'll find out," he chirped, rising to his feet and sniffing the air. He had heightened senses, so smelling rabbits around was pretty easy. He sort of dropped down at all fours and crept around the clearing until he came across one and stilled for a moment before pouncing. He had to admit, closing his teeth around the rabbits neck and making the killing blow was quite satisfying...and he didn't know blood could taste so good. He crawled back over to madrigal happily, practically bouncing as he dropped the rabbit at her feet, a happy rumble that was like a dragon noise rumbling in his throat.

Madrigal stared, wide-eyed. The scene that played out before her was so surreal, it felt unreal. It was like in that very moment, her friend had transformed; human to... something else. She knew he wasn't all human, but the picture before her was so far removed from what she knew of him before this moment, that it made it all the more shocking in its reality.

She regarded Sage with caution as he seemed to savour the kill. The look on his face made her believe that he even savoured something more than just the kill. Suddenly, this whole new greyscale of the unknown made her uncomfortable, even though in her core, she knew he wouldn't hurt her. Unless given a very, very, good reason to, that is.

"Sage..." Madrigal started, the look of delight on his face causing her to faulter. "I'm going to be honest and say that I found that to be a little disconcerting. Not bad, just... different, and something to get used to." She eyed the dead animal at her feet, sliding out a carving knife to start skinning it. "I don't want to burst yout bubble, but I just think you should know that I am unsettled, and probably will be until I get used to the whole, you know, killing-with-my-teeth thing."

Sage sat back with a light him and watched the girl start to skin the deer. He cocked his head slightly at the girl's comments and nodded with a shrug. "That's fair," he hummed, wiping the blood off his face, reality sort of returning to him a bit. "It was nice at first but now I'm not so sure," he admitted, eyeing the lethal would slightly. "I think we'll both have to get used to that a little bit," he whispered. He really did have conflicting feelings about what had just happened. It was just so natural....it had seemed so amazing. But the human part of him denied he could do something like....that...to something, even if it was just a rabbit. But, it couldn't be all bad, could it? It may be a good tool to have in his back pocket in case they were attacked.

Sage frowned slightly and edged around the area, skin prickling as he examined the rabbit he'd just killed. He'd caused a good deal of damage...and the thought that he could do that to an innocent person without barely even knowing it was...unsettling to say the least. A quick flick of the wrist, and he could spill someone's guts everywhere. That was a new power he wasn't all too sure he liked. And, if he was being honest, the girl didn't have to say she would put him down when she could have easily phrased the words differently. The way she'd said it sounded like he was an animal, and just an animal. Was that what she thought? Was he just a tool she was using, and she'd dump him when she no longer needed him? He was suddenly not very happy he'd come all the way with her, and now he was overthinking everything...terrified that she was playing him. And it certainly didn't help hearing the scrape of her sharpening her knives in the background. But....if he did start killing innocent people....he supposed she was in the right. He certainly didn't blame her. It was just unsettling to think it might happen. Then again, he'd rather it be her than anyone else. At least he could trust her to make it quick as possible.

He glanced over at her when she spoke up again and he crouched down, looking into the fire for a moment, thinking, before speaking up softly. "Honestly? I just want someone to see a person, not just my ranking or a dragon, or some poor orphan starving on the street. I want someone to be able to talk to after nightmares who won't judge." He shrugged slightly and shook his head with a dry chuckle. "it seems impossible," he hummed. "I can't even make one up in my head." Hed stopped hoping for that a whole back...he was smarter than hoping for something futile. But it was something. And he supposed it told the girl he was still human in there somewhere. Wasn't he?
