Olive, he looks like a big sweetheart. His feet look good, pasterns are a touch short in the back, but not bad. He looks very camped under in the front and there's something about the way the bottom of his neck ties into his chest that I don't like. His back looks a little long, but nothing bad. His front 2 thirds look good for thr most part, but his back 1 third doesn't exactly look like it came from the same horse. His cannon bones are a bit longer than one would expect and he loses the length his has in the rest of his body. He has a nice long neck, good headset, proportionate body and strong topline, but he has almost no length from his hip to his butt and he doesn't have much butt muscle. I think the slight lack of muscle could easily be remedied with good exercise over time though. His head is a little big for his body, but fundamentally, he's a nice, solid little horse that just needs a little conditioning.

It's hard to critique conformation of an Arabian because the way they are built is so specific to the breed

It's actually fairly easy, because you just follow their breed standards ;)
This picture is a little tricky because of the angle, but this one is a lovely typey Arabian. He has a very open shoulder angle, which helps with stride length, which is desirable for endurance animals (and anything, really. The big open shoulder is more "correct" than a steeper angle, and makes the horse smoother to ride and freer).
The croup is very flat, which I personally don't like, as that can make it easier for a horse to slip it's stifle, but that flatness again helps extend the stride. This horse is very much built for distance. The forearm to cannon bone ratio is very even, which again, distance, though I'd prefer a shorter cannon bone since it's structurally stronger than a longer one.

okay so im gonna start this with saying, dash is a harness racer. he isn't ridden and not even broke to ride, and so his topline is nonexistent....much to my dismay. he does have suspected EPM (not tested for it) we treat him for it as the vet suggested, and hes psychotic. which is why he isnt my trail rider. to date, im the only person he doesnt try to kill when you enter his stall. we do treat his EPM and as of now he is sound to race, and he will be retired when it's no longer safe. hes a 10 year old standardbred gelding. i will include his yearling photo so you can see a non-EPM conformation example. when we got him, the barn he was in had no food, no water, he had ulcers, was malnourished, the whole 9 yards. that was 6-ish years ago i believe. he is 17hh and 1200 pounds. thank you in advance!! <3
yearling photo:
him right now:
