rose thorn|rider|m major|
~
rose threw on a bright vest that she used for a trail ride and kicked major into a trot down the path so that he could stretch his legs and she could ride her old friend.
major was dorn the same day but not year as rose and they grew up together. as she rode she took a deep breath it was a cool crisp day and rose was feeling pretty anti-social today. rose patted majors neck she missed her friend her phone started vibrating and she was getting a call from her mother rose clicked decline and kept riding.
major tossed his head, a black rabbit with a missing leg hopped onto the road, rose got down from major and picked up the rabbit then she hopped back onto major and carefully cantred him back "someone get a vet!" she called as the rabbit trembled in her arms

Joslyn Arnell | Stable Manager/Instructor | M: Keelan, Others

She waved a tentative goodbye and quietly thanked him before he left. Her eyes followed Keelan's retreating form for a few moments, then they returned to the sprawling pastures. Maybe he was right... Moving on would be the hardest part, but the least she could do is live in the moment, for her students. They needed someone that was put together and confident in themselves, not a blubbering mess. She sniffled loudly and wiped her nose once more. Jumping off of the fence, she crouched down in the grass of the paddock and picked at few of the wildflowers that were left untouched by the horses.

Delicately lifting them to her face, she breathed in the scents of her childhood. It brought to mind a face that she thought would always be a part of her life, and reminded her of her favorite hobby. They used to collect flowers from neighbors gardens, obviously getting into trouble whenever they were caught. They'd run back to Joslyn's room and try different methods of drying them for preservation. She smiled thoughtfully at the small petals, delicate and light in color.

Joslyn looked up at the sky once more and finally felt peace, she handled the flowers with care, taking them back to her apartment above the barn. Once there, she went straight to her closet to hang the bundle of flowers on the wall. They were now tied neatly together by string that she nabbed, leftover from haybales. They would need to dry for two weeks minimum, and then she could have them dried and used for decoration. Feeling content with the end of her day, Joslyn dressed for bed, throwing her clothes into her hamper and wearing her favorite nightgown. While laying with her head hidden beneath dozens of pillows, she held one close to her chest and finally dozed off.

Brooke Camden | Assistant Manager/Student | M: Ryker, Rose

Brooke had long since untacked Red and left the mare in her stall with fresh bedding and hay for the night. She was wandering down one of the aisles while she thought back on her discussion with the new stablehand, Ryker. They had ended up in the lounge room, which was her favorite spot in the evening. The fireplace and bookshelves added a sense of comfort to her that she hadn't even known she needed at the time.

True to her word, Brooke had run down the basics of the position and handed him paperwork that he would need to have filled out the next time he came in. She gave him his starting day, which is tomorrow, and told him he could also start any day this week, if tomorrow was too soon. After discussing more on the position and what it would bring, she was satisfied that he understood. At the end, she escorted Ryker back to his truck and thanked him for coming today. She smiled before heading back inside to wind down from the events of the day, which seemed to be never ending.

Her attention snapped to Rose, who had appeared quite suddenly while riding her horse Major. Brooke took in the distressed looking girl before spotting the animal in her arms. She hurriedly approached Rose while still maintaining a calm presence, gesturing for the girl to let her look at the rabbit. After examining the injured leg closely, the ebony-haired girl shook her head and met Rose's eyes with sadness. "I'm sorry to say this, Rose. But it's not going to make it. It's too late in the day to reach the local vet and this rabbit is already close to death. It's barely moving now."

After calming herself down, her eyes felt heavy in the darkness that swelled around her and the dark stallion, the sky was nearing it's blackest, she had to admit, being far away from town sure made the starts brighter. She reached out and grabbed the halter, pulling his face toward his barn, and she flecked her heels in the stallion's large barrel.
The pair made it back, the open door seemed welcoming. She had him go in, she hopped off onto the hay bale, she stepped down and reached to grab the halter, she tool the lead off and then pulled the halter off, she petted him softly, shutting the door and handing the Halter and Lead on a nail on his gate. "Night boy." She walked out of the dark barn, she snuck out and hid in the mostly darkness and was hoping nobody would try to tall to her. She made it back safely, she did trip, but things were different when you fell on grass. She made her way back to the women's cabin and walked the hall till she found her room, room Six. The door opened slowly. This time she took in her surroundings this was a one room, one person house. There was a kitchenette, which means she wouldn't starve, she took a quick shower in the tiny bathroom and flopped in bed, today was over.

Ryker | 22 | Stablehand | Mentions: Brooke and Rose
He listens intently to Brooke as she runs down the whole stablehand position. Nodding every so often, he knew he wanted this job and once she handed him the paperwork. Ryker takes it and was about to begin signing them but it was getting late and he had Akuma to feed. Standing up, he shook her hand and walks out with her. Getting to his truck, he was about to get in when he heard someone shout for a vet. He puts the papers in his truck and goes after Brooke and to the girl holding a rabbit.

*I have experience in the vet field..* he said and examined the rabbit, *The area of the amputated limb is still fresh... I can take the rabbit back to my place and tend to it... my grandfathers dog got its foot taken off by a bear trap before and I still remember the suture procedure... I have books about basic remedies. I can try.* he offered.

Keelan O'Brian | Western Instructor | M: None

Nowhere near the current commotion in the barn, Keelan groggily climbs the stairs to the upper part of the barn. The door opens and closes with a click, and only when he stands facing the apartment does the events of today truly start to wear on him. He checks his phone, which currently was low on battery, and realizes it wasn't even that late. Various notifications, mostly just alerts about people liking recent posts of Dan, a couple from friends left behind.

He groans, acting like that of a child who was tasked with a chore, before setting the cups in the sink. His phone gets plugged in on the counter, far enough away to prevent himself from succumbing to an evening of scrolling through social media. He hurries for a shower, changing into loose pjs. After a day of jeans and formal shirts, he was glad for the chance to wear something less constricting, and the sight of Spongebob and Patrick riding a cat through space sure helped his mood.

He was exhausted, yet couldn't sleep. Instead, the man takes to sitting cross-legged on the bed, once more staring at the sky. At some point he had laid down to stare at the ceiling, mind flashing back to the day. His circumstances for leaving weren't the greatest, however it was similar to what he had told Joslyn. A few more thoughts flitter across his mind before ultimately fading into a rather quiet sleep.

(It is now day-time after this post, folks!)

Brooke Camden | Assistant Manager/Student | M: Ryker, Rose, All

Watching the rabbit with concerned eyes, Brooke looked to Ryker as he offered to take the poor thing into his care. She glanced at her watch and saw the time, it was rather late as it was and she wanted to hit the hay. Nodding along with his words and brushing herself off, she said in a calm voice, "Yes, that would be perfect. Maybe it will be able to pull through with your handling." Brooke decided that it was time for them to retire to their beds and gestured for Rose to hand it over to the young man.

When she was sure that the rabbit was safe in Ryker's pickup, Brooke looked on as its lights disappeared down the winding road. She sighed again, glad to be done with that situation. The girl waved goodbye to Rose and went inside to her apartment. As she climbed the stairs to the second floor, her hand brushed against the wood railing and her mind skipped to the events that occured today.

There was a lot that transpired, and it made Brooke exhausted just thinking about it. She hoped the new students were settling in comfortably and before she realized it, she was in front of her door. There were pumpkins, varied in sizes, just enough out of the way that people wouldn't trip on them when walking through the doorway. She smiled at the decor. Her tastes were more traditional than others when it came to holiday decorations, so she never carved her pumpkins. Passing the small vegetables, she closed the door behind her gently, then went off to bed.

Catherine Bergman || M: Any
Catherine had not remembered falling asleep on her phone but as her alarm began clanging through the silence of her darkroom she woke up with a start, flinging the black device off of her chest. After silencing the dammned thing she fell backward into her pillows and glanced at the clock on her dresser across the room.
5:00 AM
A groan ripped its way from her chest as she swung her legs over the bed, socked feet hitting the cool wood as she stood up to stretch. It was early still and the sun hadn't quite made its full journey over the mountain peaks that loomed outside of her window. Faintly she could hear birds chirping and the early birds whickering from paddocks nearby. She knew that Tamlin would still be asleep so she took her time waking up.
She turned her laptop on to some random Spotify station and meandered through her room gathering her things for today.
As Ray Charles sang away about coffee and cigarettes the girl dug through the few food items she had brought, finally deciding that granola and a water bottle would have to suffice until she could get into town.
She ate, ran a quick shower, and brushed her teeth. It was all so mundane and boring to her. By the time she had picked out clothes (today the breeches and *slightly* thicker athletic sweatshirt were all black). The boots she opted for were the same deep mahogany dovers from yesterday and she shoved a matching pair of gloves into her back pocket, the fingers dangling out of the top in a wave.
Catherine hummed along to the tune that played as she braided her hair back into two dutch braids that reached her breast, and by the time she was done with it all, it was 5:45 and time to head out.
She slammed the laptop shut, grabbed her phone, and left her room for the day the ghost of Sam Cooke following her as she put in earbuds and resumed the playlist from her phone. Today was lesson day and she planned on deeply grooming Tamlin beforehand so he could look his best his first day out with new people and equines alike.
As she walked she savored the smell f wildflowers soaked in morning dew, the musk of hay, and the distant smell of hickory burning in a fireplace. A smile crossed her face as she entered the barn, a few early risers whinnying softly to her as she made her way down the aisle. She'd get Tam ready in his stall this morning, knowing it was too early to drag the gelding from his personal space.
The feed room was quiet this early, save for the sound of her digging through buckets to mix the Prince's feed. It was an easy task accompanied by the tunes in her ears, made even easier by the lack of others in the barn. Catherine basked in these moments alone, her company only made by those who stood on four legs. She had made it a habit to wake at the unholy hours of the morning when she first moved to the US, a way of getting alone time in while still being productive in the AM.
As Louis Armstrong whispered in her ear she grabbed a box of grooming supplies from the tack room and lugged it and the feed towards Tamlin's stall at the end of the aisle. He was awake when she arrived, his head hanging into the aisle as if he knew she would arrive at that exact time. She chuckled at the sight of him and nudged him aside so she could enter and relatch the door.
The minute the feed bucket was hung on the wall Tamlin got to work destroying it as Catherine made way on his night-dirtied coat. All the while she hummed quietly along to whatever jazz was playing as if she would wake the beasts that still slept peacefully, awaiting their riders arrivals.

Anthea woke up, half curled with one leg outstretched and off the bed, tiny drool puddle by her face, she looked at the clock that was hanging on the wall. 7:30 on the dot. She flung the blanket off and realized the pillow was by her feet, "Are you kidding me Thea?" She rolled her eyes at her own mistake, tossing out a couple nice pairs of clothes, and the same pair of sneakers she wore the day before. She grabbed the keys to Dibby and ran out to her, swinging the door open, she started the truck and headed to town to get coffee and a pair of boots, since she noticed everyone was wearing them, and to get a coffeemaker and some mugs. And coffee, and whatever else you need for coffee.

Heather Proudstorm | 17 | Beginner | Eventing | Nightmare "Prince" | Mentions: Alden, Others.

Heather slipped out of Prince's Stall, closing the sliding Stall door behind her before locking it. She looks over at Toby, gently smiling at her dog before ever so gently taking the leash out of his mouth, she looked over when the girl caught movement from the corner of her eye. She turned herself half way around while looking over her shoulder to see Alden tending to his gelding, she was quite in awe of the gorgeous looking equine then she focused her attention on Alden before she gave a shy wave, meaning a short hello that's accompanied with a friendly smile.

She looked away, heading out of the barn with her dog to head back out to the parking lot to go grab her things from her vehicle since she has brought some stuff that she needed from home. When the girl made it into the parking, placing Toby in the car with the passenger window down. She took out two suitcases from the backseat before setting them down on the gravel pavement.

Ryker | 22 | Stablehand | Mentions: Brooke and Rose

Once the animal was given to Ryker, he used one arm to slip out of his jacket. Wrapping it around the animal, he made aure to keep most pressure on the animal’s missing leg. Hurrying into his truck, he rushed out of the Academy parking lot and down the winding drive. Just a few minutes go by and he gets home. Picking the small creature up, he brings it inside and sets it down on his table.

Searching his cabinets, he finds his anti septic cleanser, antibiotic cream, general lidocaine, needle and setures. It was a make shift kit, but it did the job. Ryker unwraps the little rabbit and started cleaning the leg, clearing any debris from it becore injecting the Lidocaine into the muscles around the area. The poor thing screeched in pain, but he held it carefully and gets the medicine in. Sadly, it didn’t have much fight in it, but Ryker kept hope. He used a clean scalpel to cut the ragged skin and flesh and cauterized the blood vessels. He setures up the leg, then cleans it one more time and smeared the antibiotic cream on it. Wrapping clean bandaging around it, he takes the little rabbit and puts it into a small dog kennel woth water and hay. After that, he goes out to feed Akuma. The stallion looked at his owner before lowering his head down to eat.

Ryker leaves the barn and heads inside to sleep… In the morning, checks on the rabbit and it was still laying there but the bottle looked a little lower and the hay had been disturbed a bit… He smiles before going to his dining room table and filled out the paperwork Brooke gave him. Once finished, he goes out to the barn and looked at Akuma. *Wanna go on a ride boy?* he asked and Akuma snorts before approaching his stall door. Ryker opens it up and just fetched a halter and lead up as he make shifts reins and hoped onto Akuma.

The stallion gallops out of the barn and down the road to the academy. Once they got there, Ryker slows him down as they slowly approach the main entrance and walk in. He looked around for Brooke …
