“I suppose I’ll keep their attention away from you.” Laufey muttered his own response, peeling away in the opposite direction. He eyed the challenger, sizing up the opponent. The mare was far larger than he was, but he was used to taking on larger opponents so he was hardly worried. Instead he only felt more confident, though he still kept his distance for fear the herd would choose to spook away from him and ruin the plan. He whinnied a friendly call, hoping to lower their guard, though his attention was brought to the approaching stallion before he was given the chance to continue his act. Laufey could feel his confidence waning as he watched the bulkier stallion approach, though he quickly caught sight of the filly he left behind. Certainly the stallion wasn’t going to confront them with someone to protect, especially a foal.

Laufey hardly cared for foals, but the filly was a weakness he could exploit if the larger stallion tried anything. He wasn’t going to hurt it, he wasn’t that heartless. Though he wasn’t against threatening it if extreme measures were needed. He figured that was going to be the case, though he kept his stance relaxed as he slowly continued around the herd.

Aztec pranced in front of the horse, she noted his smaller size and it gave her flicker of hope that she would win. His friendly call seemed to catch her off gaurd, she swerved and faked a charge, swooping back around to the herd, there was only 3 aside from herself in the herd, 4 in total. She gave a angry whinny, curving to the other stallion who was coming from behind. Her best hope was that the big bachelor, who was approaching at a canter, would be of help. She caught sight of the smaller stallion looking towards the foal of the shire horse, Planning something, are we? She huffed and circled her small band of horses, she was faking a distress sign, that way, maybe the shire would help.

Aztec's ears perked, glad that he'd seen the sign, she watched his ears flick, she looked back to where the filly had been, she was escaping into the herd, she was obviously scared of what was happening. She pushed the filly intl the little band further and gave the other mares in the herd the signal that the foal was safe before turning around to charge the small bachelor who was trying to curl the herd around to the other, who he was working with.

She made contact with his left flank and pushed in him, knocking him off balance but not injuring him. She turned back, bolting to her herd.

Feliz skirted around the middle of the herd, her mind was troubled, two bachelor's were attacking, and one big stallion, who had turned on the herd's side and barreled into one of the stallions.

All of a sudden, a small foal stumbled in, being pushed in by Aztec who gave a nod, meaning the foal was safe.

In a jiffy she helped the filly get to the middle and she stood over her like a mother. Although her body was sleek and thin, meant for speed and agility, she would protect the foal.

Her maternal instincts were still at an all time high. She gave a concerned look the the filly. "Are you all right?" She asked, looking at her and at the battles that were going on around them.

Laufey watched as the larger stallion barreled into Riptide, letting loose a bellowing challenge without giving the action much thought. He lifted his front legs off the ground to paw at the air, bringing them down with a thud. He gnashed his teeth and tucked his head in to protect his neck, his breaths coming out in frustrated snorts of air. His demeanor had changed in an instant, no longer attempting to appear as if he wasn’t a threat. Instead he paced, trying to decide the right time to charge. This fight wouldn’t be won by rushing into it. Truthfully, he was pleased by the turn of events, initially expecting this to be an easy task. Run in, spook the herd, make off with a mare or two.

He intentionally left the larger stallion to Riptide, knowing his larger companion stood a better chance than he did against the foe. Distracted by his thoughts, Loki did not prepare himself for an attack, kicking out a moment after the mare darted back to the herd. He started to charge after but stopped himself and spun away, reminding himself that it would probably only benefit them if he lost his calm. Instead he focused on the herd, lowering his head to find the filly amongst the group. It was pointless to try and separate her from the group, even if they managed to get the herd to spook. The one mare seemed intent on sheltering her. It seemed unlikely they’d get away with anything from this, but he was more than content with simply causing them fear.

Aztec glanced at the stallion who was trying to keep his cool. She sensed his self control was a weak part of him, she knew his plan, or some of it. She looked back to the herd, please to see Feliz protecting the filly.

She kept him from coming any closer to the herd, a sudden thought and realization came over her. He thought the filly was the shire's weakness, he was trying to weasel out the filly and use her again the horse. Cunning, yet obvious.

She came up with a slightly stupid plan, but hopefully effective.

Aztec circled the herd she was making herself look scared, and then she tripped, it was faked, but it looked real-ish. She looked like her leg was hurt, she limped, playing it like she was in a great deal of pain, but she was trying to protect the herd, she stumbled closer, trying to play it off, and she was doing quite good.

Laufey kept a close eye on the herd, continuing his pacing as he tried to come up with a plan. He was better when it came to surprise attacks, except the lot of them were out in the open. There was no element of surprise here. He tossed his head, trying to appear ready to attack, although his focus was within his thoughts. His mind was set on winning, whatever winning was. He hardly seemed to know exactly what winning was in this situation, whether it was getting out alive or tearing apart the herd.

He was easily distracted by the now seemingly injured mare, pausing in his movements to watch her. His ears pricked forward, though quickly pinned back again as he started to doubt the authenticity of the injury. It seemed almost too-good-to-be-true if she had actually managed to injure herself, though if it was real, he wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity. He pawed the ground and started to move to circle her, ears pinned flat as he held his head low to the ground. In an instant he had darted in, aiming to bite at her wounded leg.

Aztec kept her hoof up like she was actually wounded he was trying to appear like he was ready for an attack. She watched him prance proudly, then he darted in to bite her. She spun around, hitting him in the flanks with the side of her hind end, she promptly fell on him too, she didn't mean that part though. She quickly got up and realized she had rolled on him, she reared up and stomped, less then an inch away from his stomach, a warning to him. "Get away from my herd." She said, tingling challenge. "Good to know that you need a partner, since you aren't good enough to do it alone." She catered back to the herd, circling them.

Shadow wonder along the river look for friends or a herd to join, last time she was with someone was her mother but she was still with her, after a while of walking she stopped and got a drink. Alone and valuable to stallions who is looking for more mare to enter their herd, being alone is not fun but it has to do for a while, after taking a long drink shadow took off galloping into the forest.

She was good at hiding making sure no one knew about her she was born to be fast on her feet and a good thinker, at the end of the forest shadow lays down near a tree and takes a long nap. Dreams about life with a herd and a leader, also dreams about a lot of foals, maybe one day I can have another foal won't life get ahead when u have foals not to me through

The sun shone on Teluva's coat as the young mare stayed close to the rest of the herd. She may not be a part of the herd, but she knew that she would be in greater danger if she was by herself, especially with the bachelors around. The mare's icy blue eyes settled on the two stallions, and she watched them intensely, wondering if she would be able to outrun them. Of course, the herd offered protection, but she didn't know how long that protection would last if the Duo were here. She had often heard stories about them, and how they would stop at nothing to steal mares, even when faced with opposition.

I hope none of us will be captured. The Duo can't be that strong, right? She attempted to assure herself as she hesitated near the edge of the herd. She was half tempted to gallop away, but she decided to wait and see if they would be able to fend off the Duo. Besides, I'm not the fastest, and I don't know how fast they are. If I run away now, I will be more at risk of being captured by these two. I'll have to stay put for now. She thought as she trotted even closer towards the herd.
